Ok guys after Saving Hell Lotta money for like months or maybe a year...Staying Hungry for don't know how many days(i meant fast food/outdoor etc,I ate at home only :P),Not spending any money on mobile etc Using Gfive N90 worth 500 bucks. :P Plus Saving cash that i got from relatives and saving from unnecessary PC upgrades,I had saved 40k for buying an Ultimate GPU(s) for my rig that will be future proof for at least 3 years. I had 52k but spend 7k for UCP900(RMA'ed 1 month ago) and 5k for the ASUS Mobo.

As you can see my PSU can handle any GPU possible even Crossfire/SLI. Please suggest what to go for...A week ago was just about to buy HD6990 from Lynx but friends on TE told me to open a thread and ask for suggestion whether to go for a 6990,590,HD6970 Cfx or wait for AMD7xxx Series or Nvidia 6xx series.

I have no problem in waiting as my onboard HD4250 is descent enough to play HD videos and i just completed Max Payne 2 and will play Far Cry later.

Anyways, back to the topic, guys what should it be 6990,590 some Crossfire/SLI or 7xxx/6xx?

Also,Power Consumption is not a problem as i don't pay the bill..my father does. :P

So guys suggest...You can see my Rig in the Signature.

P.S-40k is not the amount that i saved. I saved ~12k and the rest my father will give me...He made a reasonable amount of profit on shares because of me. :ohyeah:

For that 1080p resolution. You might as well as get a HD6950 for around 15k. Save the rest of the cash and maybe get a good mobile too.

Do reconsider your plan to buy from Lynx, their customer handling and service aren't great. You can order it directly from the dealers here in TE.

As i live in Chandigarh, its easier for me to go there and buy/RMA and stuff. Anyways will consider other Dealers also. Also, why 6950? :( I really want to build a future proof system which is good enough maybe even after 4 years. I will be in college till then and will not waste extra money and will buy a normal descent 13-14" i3 laptop for study purpose and game on this system. :)

^No re, putting 40k on a graphics card to play on a 1920*1080 resolution is a waste of money imo. 6950 itself is a powerful monster. Take the money from your dad and put it in yours savings account ;). After a year or so. When you feel your games aren't running as you want, you can evaluate the scenario then and upgrade accordingly. Don't waste 40k just because you have it ;)

hehe...ok sire i think i'll go with you two either a 2GB 6950 or GTX 580 from Arun. Also considering the release of Southern Islands is very close. I can go for a single 79xx Card and a Cabinet upgrade yea? Local Cabinet you see..:ashamed:

well your should get 6950 in crossfire or 580 gtx from 20k so please read these thread http://www.techenclave.com/hot-deals-and-discussions/580-gtx-for-18k-killer-deal-198380.html

so let us know i can arrange best cheap 580 gtx gpu from Malaysia that u can save 20k cash for your new mobile

Oo-o-o-ooo...GTX580 for 20k? I think this would be great. Arun.P How lung will it take for you to deliver me the card?

For that resolution, will certainly suggest a 6950 or at max a GTX580. You never know where the technology would lead in the coming 3-4 years, so no point in wasting money just because you have it. Invest in some funds which will see you some returns as well, :D

40K for a GPU?? :ashamed:

If you dont want to wait for 7XXX series, then the following are my suggestions:

1. GTX 580 (If you need single GPU)

2. 6870 Crossfire (Those are available cheap and crossfire scaling makes it a must buy). :cool2: IMO the total power consumption would be still less than GTX580

Spending 40K on a GPU right now is not worth IMO, since the present generation GPU's have been released a year ago. So You can save up and go for 7XXX next year..

Arey someone tell me....Should i finalize for 6950 2GB...or Southern Islands? Cause i heard/know they will be good. and power consumption doesn't matter to though but still they will consume very less power too...:D

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Arey Chirag and can still wait....I waited for almost a year..3-4 months is nothing for me...:P

Ohhkk... Get a 6950 2gb hawk/twinfrozr edition and enjoy till 7XXX comes out... :) Then you can sell this 6950 to me at say 7K... :P

40 k for a gpu just to play 1080p is a no no.what i will suggest you is get a gtx 580 and a decent cabby.you can buy a cellphone from the remaining amount.

Looking at your siggy, here's my suggestion:

HD6870 or a used HD5870 ~ 11k

Xonar DX ~ 4.5k

Headphones OR speakers @ 7k.

Total=22k

Use HD6870/HD5870 (totally enough for current-gen 1080p games) for 4 months, upgrade to a HD7850@18k by spending 11k more.

Also later on, invest in a better monitor, if you want to do justice to your great rig. Upgrade cost for monitor ~ 7k.

At the end you will have spent 40k on your rig, but in a very wise manner.

get HD6950 1GB for now if you are desperate to get a card or wait and get MID/high end HD7XXX series card after launched.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on his "future proofing his rig for 4 years" plan.. Dude, whatever components you buy, it'll get outdated in 6-8 months. Based on all the comments I've read thus far, I would suggest going the GTX 580 route.

Sure 6870 x2 is better than a single 580. But, I might get flamed here, looking at the recently released Battlefield 3 specs, the game is better optimized for nVidia cards. There are more games optimized for nVidia than AMD. Just get a GTX 580 and a decent cabinet, something like HAF 932. You'll be left with around 10k I think, save that and a year from now, just get another GTX 580 and SLI it. The system will last another year for you comfortably.

Good job on acquiring the money :P

As everyone else has advised, please invest sensibly. And waiting for 3-4 months doesn't make sense too since the 7 series cards will get huge price drops weeks after they release and you won't get the best value for your money. Invest in bits and pieces over the next 4 years and always have the latest in hardware throughout!

OMG Soo Confusing...Actually i am thinking that i should wait.....go with 79xx series till then padh lunga IIT dena hai...:P What do you guys say? As their performance rumor's..etc's are amazing. :D
