Graphic Cards GPU for 1440X900 gaming

My sig has my configuration. What would be the best card for playing Crysis at 1440X900 resolution(the max resolution for my lcd panel) ? My budget is 10k, but the card should not be overkill for my resolution requirement and should not be bottlenecked by the AMD 4000x2 cpu.
I dont generally worry about AA and AF.

Considering the CPU bottleneck, even the 4850 wud give 25-30fps with Crysis at med quality at that resolution...

Buy a Palit 4850 for 11.5k

KMD has a Sapphire HD4850 for as low as 10, 350/- :bleh:

Even the 8800GT might bottleneck as much; but given both the cards, the 4850 wins hands down; :D

KMD warranty good, but will it be as good as local warranty?

Nope but frankly I dont mind sending the product to him [which might fetch hardly 200 bucks??] if something unfortunate happens; blowing 1k more for the same stuff IMO is not really worth it; :)

I guess one would have to pay KMD the to and fro shipping charges which would cost more than 200Rs...
But then the only card that died on me was Geforce 4 ti4400 and by then it was paperweight anyway.

Yeah thats what; cards seldom die on their own unless we as users do something beyond the normal usage; :p

BTW there're only 2 cards from KMD that bretail for this price it appears; :)

darn :( prior to this I have enjoyed far cry at 1024X768 on a 17' crt with ti4600 some 4 years back.

Is it possible to do 1024X768 or any other non-widescreen resolution under 1440X900 on my widescreen that would give me playable fps while not hindering the gaming experience aspect ratio wise (thats assuming that there would be some kinda mismatch:huh: in the view when using any of the 4:3 resolutions - seriously noob)?

I'm quite sure 1440X900 is the only widescreen resolution supported by the lcd

Dude it aint gona be a bottleneck as vij was quoting cos after all the performance diff b/w this one and say the X24800+ might be quite notable but then being a entry level DC proccy from AMD, the game should be easily playable at that resolution;

It'd yield a couple of more frames with a better X2 proccy; :)

i could play on 1440x900 on a screen with native res of 1680x1050,but the game looked shit.
its better if you run the game on native res of the monitor, even AA at lower res doesn't look better than native res and crysis is a game to be played for its booty:p

4850 won't be bottle necked by the cpu as above 1024x768 the role of the cpu becomes very minute

that is why you see the cpu test of all 3d benchmark applications being run at 640x480

so just buy a 4850 & enjoy crysis at high setting & 0xAA on a res of 1440x900 with xp

my earlier reply did not end up at the end of the thread as i'd expected ... i'll copy paste what i said in my last post

Its not really a major bottleneck...but...

In Crysis with his proc you might still find that it performs 4-5 fps slower than say a c2d E6750...

If avg of 30fps is ok with him..then I guess it will suffice...

Hello,

I have a Pentium D 2.66GHz and 2GB DDR2-667 RAM. Will the CPU bottleneck if I get a 4850/4870 and play Crysis at really high res? Like 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 ?

check this

Core 2 Duo Scaling in Gaming - Page 5 - Crysis

See the difference btw Phenom 9600 and C2D E6750 @ 1280x1024 here....You can imagine the athlon would score even lower.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Review » Page 8 - Testing: Crysis - Overclockers Club

But just a correction..

He would still get around 40-45fps at 1440x900 with crysis @ medium....so he could go high settings at just about playable fps.

man.....looking at some of statements issued by nvidia bosses...i thought CPU was just there to fill in the void in mobo...it was all abt gpu..
