i need a graphic card for very light gaming in range of 3k~3.5k [lover will be better]
this will be teamed up with CM Extreme power plus 550W [was using same SMPS with my 9800GT .... upgraded both and this old CM comes in this PC]
i will use this with 22' monitor for occasional gaming

EDIT: i am getting old stocked 9800gt for 3.1k from other forum

get the old 9800gt for 3.1K and before buying it make sure to test it.... If you are willing to buy a new one get 5570.

Get the 9800GT @ 3.1k or look for a 2nd hand HD4850 for around 3.5k. You won't get a faster card than either of those -new- for anything less than 5k.

pratzgh1 is selling HD4850 @ 3.5k. . In my opinion, it is a better deal over 9800GT. Although i'd not risk 9800GT/HD4850 on that PSU, HD5670 is what i would reckon. :)

i am little worried about the power consumption of 9800GT even though its green but still i would go for little less power hungry card and secondly we dont have palit service center in lucknow [palit 9800GT Green 512MB]

getting XFX 9600GT 512 for 2.7k

should i go ahead with 5570 or 9600GT or any other card

^ at what resolution you would be gaming at? 9600GT performs similar to HD5570 but consumes more power ~ 2X

HD4850 ~ 110W
9800GT ~ 105W
9600GT ~ 95W
HD5670 ~ 62W
HD5570 ~ 43W

I'd not risk a card that consumes more than 75W TDP or needs a power from PCI-e connector. Get a second hand HD5670. :)

I am not expecting to game on high res. anything around 1200*--- some where around 25 FPS

i was using 1GB 9800GT green on same PSU for last 1.5yrs. without any problem now i have upgraded to Corsair HX750 and will get a decent card for my main rig

i wont sell this SMPS so adding a card for casual gaming which consume less power than 9800GT and more or less same power... all main games will be played on my main rig

^ You will be using new card on HX750. right? you should have mentioned HX750 atleast in the opening post. :|. Get a used HD 4850 eyes closed or even 9800GT will do fine at 1280x800. :)

Yeah he didnt mention it earlier so I asked him to get 9800gt, but now according to your opinion he should get 4850 if its been sold for 3.5K. And @ kartikoli : you can get 9600gt if you are to save 700/-... But 4850 will make you feel comfortable even on high reso with some medium settings.. But i think even CM EPP 550 can handle those GPU's

i think used 5670 is the better bet then 9800GT as it consumes less power [so no issue with CM EPP] and perform better than 9800GT ... saw some benchmarks @ anandtech ... correct me if i am wrong

if i dont get 5670 then i can go ahead with 5570 for Rs.4300 - 10% discount ~ Rs.3900

ATI RADEON HD5570 1GB DDR3 HDMI PCI-E CARD (POWERCOLOR) | eBay

so what is the final verdict old 5670 or new 5570 .... i dont think there are more choices in this range [PMed a member @ other forum for 9600Gt for 2.3k... waiting for his response]

Old "5670" better than 5570... Going with new, then go for 5570 (near to your budget), but a new 5670 can well lie in your budget too if willing to spend 500bucks more. 9600gt for 2.3K is nice deal, but not better than 5670 and moreover doesn't support dx11.

almost decided between old 5670 and new 5570 ... will see which 1 comes to my budget

9600GT guy offered palit 240 DDR3 version for 2500 shipped as 9600GT is sold

I was using 9800gt green on CM 500w extreme + from last 2 years without issues , you can go go ahead as well , its better then 9600gt . Just sold my 9800gt for Rs2700 last week .

^^^ former owner of 9800GT 1GB green as well

i gave 9800Gt a miss for power consumption as i want this PC to be cool and less power hungry ... good for downloading during night hours :D

anyway still have to get a card as i am not in hurry for this PC upgrade
