I checked the GPU temps after playing mirrors edge for 20 mins or so .. the temperature was 92 C :@ and idle was 64C .. and then .. saw there was a lot of dust so opened up PC and cleaned out all the dust ..:@

Then , the PC display didn't come ... and after a lot of hardwork which included tightening of all the wires and cleaning again , the PC Display came and guess what ? The IDLE temperature is 68 C .. **** ! Cleaned all the dust and 4C higher..WTF ?

Need Help guys..i hate the temps Plz tell me a low cost solution .....!!! :) :)

Now the idle temp is 70C . WTF :( .. The fan is not working... it works sometimes but that too very slowly.. The fan speed is at 100% ..

What to do ? I cannot afford aftermarket coolers.. need a really low cost solution..

thanks!

GPU - XFX 8600GT 256 MB DDR3

CPU - Amd Athlon 64 X 2+ 4400+

GPU Pic - http://www.tweakpc.de/hardware/tests/graka/xfx_sparkle_geforce_8600_gts_gt/b/01_xfx8600gt_1.jpg

PSU = Iball 450W

Well cheap alternate to cool 8600GT DDR 3 in range of 50 to 60 degree maximum under load, Mount 80MM/120MM fan by long screws on HS.Warranty will remain intact if modification done in proper way.

It will reduce noise as well temperature, make use of 120MM fans in cabby for proper airflow.

Temporary solution - Buy a cheap 120mm or even a 80mm fan will do!

Attach it to ur GPU heatsink (via zip ties or the wire ties) or such that it blows air directly onto the GPU fan!

as in the 120mm or 80mm fan should be hanging from the gpu heatsink, blowing directly on it, when u insert the gpu in the PCI-E slot.

Really effective imo!! i used this method back when i had my 7600GT and its idle dropped from 55C to 44C!!:ohyeah: :hap2:

Also used the same method for HD4850 until the catalyst came up with fan control!

omg virus32win beat me to it! :P

I just want my temp to cool down and become 55C ..nothing else..is it possible with the 120mm fan trick ?

btw , shud i remove the Company's Fan and sticker ? which is a box like thing attached to a wire ? Or shud i let it be ?

Clean the stock goop and apply MX2 and remove the stock fan and the plastic shroud. Attach a 80mm fan. Lol half of the 120mm fan would be protruding out. :P

this did the trick on my xfx 8600GT electric stove edition... instead I used tuniq tx-2... it did help the idle temps but it still touches 100 degrees every now and then....

clean the stock cooler properly.

those enclosures trap alot of dust.

temps shall drop by a notable margin after that...add 80mm or larger fan on the adjacent slot using a slot protector and some cable ties. Sumthin like this thread

at least the loads temps shall come to a lower limit by doin so...
