Having come from a background of HD 202 , then to a ad700 i feel ad700 lack bass and are pretty annoying to people outside me also so i decided to go for the SR60i grados , will it be a good alterantive to my ad700 . Budget is around the same as grados any other better headphone in that range (80 dollars) .

Please suggest probably going to get the same from USA.

Edit:Came to know grados also open ear , how good is the Sennheiser HD280 Pro.

Grados are one of the best open cans headphones if you like its mid centric aggresive sound signature.

But if you do not want sound to leak out & want something with more bass and an overall upgrade in sound quality compared to the AD700, then have a look at ATH-M50 from Audio Technica itself .

If you do not wish to spend a lot and are on a low budget, ATH-M35 /T500 will serve the purpose well . It has lesser bass than M50 but slighlty more punch than AD700 . Overall detailing is on par / a little inferior to AD700 .

Also keep in mind that when you shift from one of the best open cans like AD700 to any closed headphones , you will notice a downgrade in the soundstage . In general closed cans can not match soundstage of open air headphones .

yup, sorry i missed that . ( the open can part )

OP, where are you , currently ? ( your location )

Current location as mentioned is Goa , my cousin wil be getting the same or my friends cousin one of these :).

Any suggestions you have , i was suggested a ultrasone hfi-680 as well but it retails for 150 $ :(.

Detailing as good as AD700 and with good bass and good soundstage (i know not possible to get closed cans wid soundstage of ad700 but still smthing which gives most for the budget is preferred).

And lastly how would you rate the bass of grados w.r.t to HD202 and AD700 .

Get the Audiotechnica M30/M50. They are closed and offer excellent sound quality for the price. Grado's are good if you want a more open, live performance kind of sound. For everything else, theres M50 :)

How much performance differnece in the m35 vs m50 and is it worth spending so much already owning a ad700 ?

I haven't tried the M35 but the M50 are really good. Also theres a "you get what you pay for" and a "your mileage may vary" factor ;)

Hmm :) , I will pay more and get the M50 then , thanks for making my doubts clear to everyone who replied.
