I'll make one last attempt to seal the deal on this one.
I meant why would one even bother purchasing a game which released 4 years ago and keep pointing out how it performed when it released. What's the point in that?

You're purchasing the game on the PS3, when your current configuration may handle it much better, not to mention being cheaper. But then again, your recurring issues with GFWL on the PC may have swayed your decision, which is understandable.

As for the earlier GTA games, I never heard of any performance issues being reported on them. My friend was able to max out GTA San Andreas on his 6600GT on release day, when it looked absolutely horrible on the PS2.
Hell, going by GTA's past graphical track record, we shouldn't have even expected such amount of detail in this game. All the previous GTA games had a cartoony look
I loved The Ballad of Gay Tony more than GTA IV. It sported much better visual theme and also had hilarious set of characters. You'll love it. Can't say the same for Lost & the Damned though.

Thats why i said you got it wrong. Actually i was not complaining but confirming a truth from the past. As i had no idea how it looked or performed in consoles. The main reason behind it was TBoGT ran slower than a tortoise in my system. It was a complete mess. It really annoyed me when i compared GTA IV's performance with this game. Though both were build using the same engine.
Yes you are right about GFWL too. Its just fckin stupid. Origin & steam are far better.

About visuals then yes earlier titles of this series have weird textures but compared to them GTA IV looks a lot better. Lets not bring mods here because this title do have some awesome mods which takes this game to a different dimension (and that will be a bit of offtopic).
6600GT was an awesome card in its time i think you may know that. Btw i completed san andreas on a intel onboard 910 gma. By bad port i not only meant performance issues there were various other issues too.
GTA 1 and GTA 3 had some major performance issues GTA vice city and GTA san andreas had some texture problems etc etc.

Yeah thats why the TBoGT got me interested. Will report here after finishing the game.
