Hi to all,

:S

I really need some help and info. I currently have a geforce 6200 AGP 8x, 256 MB graphics card. I am thinking of a big upgrade in july-sept period for which i have even posted a query in the pc peripherals section.

But this is where my doubt comes. That upgrade still has some time ( as i am saving up on cash and also waiting for the c2d newer series). So i was thinking of getting a new AGP card as a temporary card to fill the gap of these 4 months or so. So i thought of getting a 7600 GT or 7800 GS (AGP ones of course). But please tell me is this a wise decision????

Please answer the following questions as i know lot of u here are experienced:

1. Will there be a significant performance boost. That is how good is 7600 GT or 7800 GS as compared to plain 6200??

2. Since this a temporary card, is it wise to spend a lot on it. As in pune i am getting it for Rs. 9700 (7600 GT). Or would it be better to get a second hand one. What i mean to ask is, will the performance boost be worth 9.7K.

3. I am playing STALKER now days and i am getting just 10 to 12 FPS. That is why i suddenly developed an interest in this new card. How good will it be with stalker. Will it give a good fps at 1680 x 1050. And any chance that it will work fine with dynamic lights on.

4. Is someone willing to sell off his/her agp edition 7600 gt or 7800 GS?

5. Which card is better amongst these 2?

6. Finally, should i not buy a new one at all. That is should i just wait for my upgrade?

Thanks a lot :)

Waiting for a reply. Please help me out.

Hi,

Didnt quite get you. Can u please tell me how much is the sparkle 7600 GS for. Secondly i think i asked about 7800 GS or the 7600 GT. But will u recommend 7600 GS. As i really want a card in which i will see a lot of diffrence as compared to my 6200. As it sucks big time. But i want a bang for my buck. And it is a just a temporary card. So it should be not that expensive.

Not a good idea to invest in a AGP card if you are gonna upgrade soon ... also you might get very little returns for it when you wil be looking to sell it

If you are gonna upgrade in the near future then hold on to the current card for a while

Hi Xfactor,

Thanks a lot, you have answered all my questions. Thank u. I guess i will hold on to my current card. But just one final thing. If i get a second hand one at 5K or so, should i buy it then as a temporary card. Or even then it is not worth it. As i have to caryy on for 4 to 5 months approx. And it gets irritating when i dont get to play games at all.

Thanks

Try getting a 7600GS AGP ... will let you play stalker at medium-low settings at decent fps
