I recently upgraded my Catalyst driver v. 11.1 to 11.4 which was followed by a drop in my AERO graphics rating and gaming graphics rating to, is this normal? Please help. :S

AERO rating -- 5.6 from a previous 7.4
Gaming graphics -- 6.2 from a previous 7.4

my configuration is

AMD 965 B.E C3 stepping ~125W TDP + Cooler Master Hyper 212+ (push-pull mode)
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
G.Skill RIPJAWS 1333 MHz 2 x 2GB kit + RIPJAWS 1600 MHz 1 x 2GB stick = 6GB RAM clocked @1333 MHz
MSI HD 5770 HAWK edition
2 x 320GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 HDD
Cooler Master Scout
Windows 7 Home Premium (original edition) + Service Pack 1

I'm a bit worried as my system seems to have slown down even opening a .jpg image sometimes takes 5 seconds.
I use CCleaner to regular clean my junk files, use Microsoft Security Essentials AV solution and Defraggler for well defragmenting my drives.

Main purpose of system --
1) gaming Game frame rates have become choppy (currently playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call Of Pripyat [original] on med settings)
2) animation / lighting / modeling -- MAYA, Combustion, Adobe Photoshop.
3) rendering
4) file conversion ~ .mkv files to .mp4
5) Winamp free is now my standard myusic player

Portable devices -- 16 Corsair Flash Voyager pen drive, 500GB Transcend Storejet external drive. Plan to add another 1TB of data space by June.

Sound is provided by Altec Lansing BXR 1221 OR SoundMAGIC PL 30.

Thanks in advance.

Windows rating does not matter at all...

If u start seeing performance lags, only then start worrying...

Maybe u downloaded the Beta version...

Thats a hell load of config

have you cleaned your previous drivers before installing the new one? If not then uninstall the new one, clean all your gpu drivers, install the new one.

WEI is driver dependant i guess, on my laptop (m8600GS) WEI with nVidia drivers of version 260.xx showed 4.6 for gfx card, but now with latest 270.xx drivers shows 4.8 :D

somewhat improvement in performance too.

Hmmm... how to clean old drivers, any software or something. Also can this be due to some other software interference. Thanks I will try out.

Yes I'm seeing a performance hit that i can't use AERO to the fullest for start and then all around lag in games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Battlefield Bad Company 2 (1600 x900). I have a 20" screen.

i think there is a problem with the catalyst,u shud probably revert back and wait for the glitch to be sorted out...

I hope you have downloaded the driver from AMD's site only? I have the same GPU and I also just Upgraded my Catalyst from v10.8 to v11.4. My Windows did showed Refresh Windows Experience New Hardwares Detected after refreshing they showed the same Ratings. Maybe u installed some faulty driver, Uninstall it and Clear everything then Reinstall it. I think the problem will be resolved. :)

Do not gauge performance based on WEI. Check that for balanced systems. Run game benchmarks or 3D synthetics to see the drivers pros/cons.

Else read pages like guru3d which devote 30-35 pages for each new driver plus CAP.

well thats odd because when i was on 10.8 my graphics index showed score of 7.4 on my hd 5770 but when i upgraded to 11.2 my graphics index went down to 5.3 however i didn't bother that because i was having no problem in playing any game but again when i upgraded to 11.4 my score went up to 7.5 so 11.4 worked for me.
even i would suggest you to use driver sweeper and reinstall drivers.

Okay problem is now solved thanks Altair and CA50 re-installed the entire drivers after a clean sweep as well as now all games running smoothly again, I had installed wrong drivers I think.

Oh, as of last check AMD Catalyst v11.5 has come out. Hope this helps from my side.

Once again thanks all. MODS terminate this thread / archive it or do as you see fit, thank you.
