Hello,

I have this Seagate HDD 750gb, HDD sentinel and HDD Tune pro are reporting badsector 142, which have grown from 124 reported in Aug, however seatools are not showing any error does this disk qualify for RMA? i assume i should buy a new one now, which one is the best nowdays.

Thanks.

Right now the price of HDD is quite high and go for WD as they are still giving 3 years warranty unlike seagate.

And about your bad sector, you can repair (read remap) those using tools like viviard :)

Well I too have a Seagate 500GB 7200.12 drive abt 2 yrs old now. I had some issues with an el cheapo SMPS suddenly now HDD sentinal shows in its S.M.A.R.T. page that I have 2555 relocated sectors. I suspect that it has more to do with the SMPS at that time rather than the drive. Can those relocated sectors be reclaimed and marked not bad somehow, if they are physically good.

^ 2555 relocated sector is not very good sign for your HDD, if its still under warranty, send it fro RMA. Also don't store important datas on it, it might give away anytime
