OT - Isn't Crucial 4GB kit for 2700 shipped a better deal than this ? Atleast you get D9 chips, agreed it doesnt have any fancy heatspreaders :P

Well the heatspreaders do look damn cool. And these sticks are supposed to OC like hell. They are also the only CL4 sticks that run at such low voltages
( 1.8V ) . The Crucials you mentioned are CL6 sticks, right?

These will be used on no o/c or mild o/c systems where VDimm will not or cannot be raised. @ default 400 MHZ speeds these will be prefered due to its Cas 4 ratings on default Vdimm of 1.8~1.9V.

D9 will be useful if you have a good OC Platform (like urself) where you can raise the vDimm to 2.3V or more.

I am yet to test mine thoroughly but they are capable of 1000 @ 5-5-5-15 @ 1.9V

which aint bad, is it ?

after looking at ur feats @THL site this is, how do you say, not even barely warm up for you:) but you have to understand these GSkill PI Blacks are not for o/c'ing folks. I dont know exactly which chips these Gskill use but they sure dont scale well with increase voltage. infact around 900 ~ 950 MHZ is the max mine reaches, while testing at relaxed timings, no matter how much Vdimm i increase (tried upto 2.3V). for daily use i use it at 4-4-4-12 @ 1.80V with peace of mind.

Well, it sure won't bottleneck my CPU oc'ing. I can easily run it at 1:1 and still get a good overclock on my E7400.

As for RAM OC'ing, I intend to take it to maybe 900 or 950 max. Since I am more into gaming than benching. :) .

Also even thought I maybe able to easily raise the volts to 2.3V, lower voltage = lower temps .. right?

IIRC its Powerchip thats being used in these Pi Blacks.

Is there any mention anywhere of that? Seems like G.Skill was hesitant enough to mention the chips used in the PI Blacks. IIRC I read on the XS forums, the G.Skill rep himself denied to reveal those. Neither can u read/predict it from the chips with the naked eye. :P
