Hi,

I already read it at many places that the game is not among the good written games, is memory hungry etc etc. I am posting here my config and FPS I am getting, and want some one to confirm whether it can go beyond this if I do some changes to my config.

Playing at 19" 1440*900 res.
Intel E8200, 2.66, C2D
Intel DG31PR (No OC option), can change if required
GTS 250 1 GB
XP SP3, with 4 GB Ram installed and 3.23 GB effective
Ram is 800 mhz but currently on 667 mhz due to some mismatch(I will start a separate thread for this)

nothing oced, every thing on default. At this resolution I have texture quality high, reflection medium, water & shadow medium.

I am getting around 25-28 FPS while playing on average, at very detail graphic level it drops to 20-22. I knew its processor dependent game and ocing it may change the result but before trying anything (either with software/new MB), I thought to ask someone who had played this game.

Is there some scope of higher FPS or its MAX what I am getting currently. If there is some scope what all things I should try.(I have no plans to buy a quad so that is out of consideration)

Thanks
Aditya

To run at its optumum this game requires a Core i5 or i7 > 3-3.5GHz + 4GB + 5870 OCed or 5770 CF.

You can't expect playable performance at decent settings from a dual core, and perhaps not even for a q9xxx series cpu.

@Tracxy

Gr8 Man, FPS increased. 25-28 boosted to 32-36 (40+ at some locations). I have not applied all tweaks. Just the command line one.

The game is pretty fluid at even 15-20 fps so those fps which ur getting shouldn't be a problem :) And good you could increase the fps...

just search for the patches. After the patches, the game became 5X lighter for me, and visuals too improved a lot.

after patch, you should easily get around avg of 50 fps. For me, the avg rose from 21 to 68 fps.

Happy to hear that your fps increased. Credits to the the OP of that thread..:)

OC ur processor too . i oc'ed mine e6600 from 2.4 to 3.4 and got an 15- 25 fps rise without any patches :D ( this was before patches were released ).

Rest of your rig is pretty good

Wow that is an impressive gain.

Yes it is a good mid level system but MB. Intel DG31PR has no advanced option in BIOS to OC the processor. Already tried with OC software available but as with most of the guys, they didn't work either. Any suggestion on some good OCer but economic MB.(I do not want to invest a lot in LGA775 now).

First thing I did after installing GTA IV is installing the patch. So already have the latest patch installed.

Average 50 is too good, I believe you must be having better card or better processor. If not I'll dig it till end.:D

Mine is GTS 250 with Intel E8200.(not OCed)
