GTA IV Problem

Today I bought GTA IV. Installation went fine. But when I tries to run the game, the game doesnt start. It crashes after we get a command prompt type of screen w/o giving any error. Help me!

OS: Windows Vista SP1
 
update gfx drivers to 8.12
directx runtimes to nov 2008
.net framework to v3.5 + sp1
install gta4 update (offline) from link in "gta4 tweaks and fixes" thread

Lemme try the other solutions.
 
Update to .net framework to v3.5 first as already suggested by stellarhopper. Then uninstall game and re-install the game, that should work

Yeah currently installing .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. The download speed is currently very slow-only 7-8kbps on 256kbps connection. :S While downloading through firefox downloader, the speeds are fine, dont know why it is too slow here.
 
Guys..What is this revocation?

Is it necessary to send the revocation code to the support thing?

Is activation using the serial limited? If yes, then to how many times?

I have done a manual revoke.

Why did you go about doing something when you had no idea what it meant? :S
 
Thnx all of you. The game worked.
BTW Is there any way I can run the game w/o having to keep the DVD inside the drive?
 
i can send u a link for a mini image...
but ull have to use a secific version of DT pro with Yasu
and sum ppl hav reported it dosent work...game asks for serial again etc...
havent tried it myself..
sumone suggested u can make an iso in linux...
has anyone tried that?
would securom allow it?
if so..how exactly do u go about making an iso image in ubuntu..(i hav 8.04 lts)...

Means currently there is no way?
 
I got me a problem as well.

After about 30-40 seconds in the new game, the screen just freezes!

I have been able to see 2 scenarios:

1. intro movie: new game: locks-up when they show the docks with a crane moving a car

2. (if i skip the intro movie)-> after driving in the car for about 20-30 secs. just before reaching the destination.

Have already:

- updated .net 3.5sp1, ati 8.12, GFWlive, flash, directx.

- tried with/without patch

I've been struggling to get this running for the past 6hrs now.. any help/hints?

- rig config in signature (using xp sp3)... & the game is legit
