GTAV- Intel: "Somebody paid a lot of money" to keep Grand Theft Auto V off PC

Whoa hold your horses! Every GTA release had a 6 month gap between their console release and PC port. And for those of you telling "Red Dead Redemption", it was made by a different studio.

But that doesn't mean it MUST stick to tradition.
GTA5 generated a lot of hype especially for the PC platform. If Rockstar was any publisher it would've surely released the PC version by now. In some way I agree with what Chris Silva said. Unless the reason is "piracy" (lets not delve too deep into this or it'll go OT) I find it rather ridiculous tbh.
 
Take Two isn't dumb. People are still buying GTA IV whenever it goes on sale in Steam. But's speculation is useless, so I will just wait and see. If there's no announcement within Jan 2014, I might start getting nervous.
 
Oh, I didn't know that! But was there this much delay for PC release when GTA IV was released? I don't remember I had to wait this long, maybe I remember wrong. Two years are a long time!
 
All GTA games has a delay of 7-8 months between the console versions and the PC version.
for eg.
GTA IV Apr 2008 -- Dec 2008
GTA SA Oct 2004 -- Jun 2005
GTA VC Oct 2002 -- Jun 2003

The difference in the case of GTA V is that Rockstar usually announces the release date of PC game at the same time of the announcement of the other versions; and that has not happened. They might have done this to maximize the sale of console version, though not sure.

Just one correction. GTA4 PC was not announced during the Console release. Console versions were released in April and the PC announcement did not come until August. Actually, I remember reading the thread right here in the TE forums announcing it. I was ecstatic when I saw the thread because back then also there was same kind paranoia about whether there was going to be a PC version. R* first announced that the PC version would release in October but at last minute they delayed it to November and it finally became available in India in December for the legendary price of Rs. 499/-
 
Nope intel, you are wrong.

They kept it off because the PC users do not pay a lot of money to buy games.

Thanks for the insightful comment. I was looking for the GTA V PC thread in Gaming forum, not the whole TE forums. I do not think the update I posted would have belonged in the console thread anyways.

There is no thread discussing 'GTA V' in 'Gaming' section apart from this.
