If at this point, ATI does a price cut, nvidia is doomed. But I fear if ATI would do it :(

Add another 3k, and you can get an HD 5870, than a GTX 465.

I really liked their older GTX 260, which managed to beat its competitor HD 4870 by small margin, at about same price tag. Fermi seems to be epic fail. The one which doesnt heat up like hell, lags in performance, and the one which does have the horsepower, heats up like hell, and drinks power like a bulldozer.

If I remember correctly, it was actually quite the opposite. GTX260 came out first and was good at performance, but was horribly overpriced. Then ATI came up with HD4870 and blew everything away by its performance especially at the price point. This was what forced Nvidia to bring down the price of GTX260. Even then, GTX260 wasnt a good choice until the refresh with 216 SP units or something. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

^True that. The first GTX260 with 192 stream processors was thrashed left, right, center by the 4870 1GB. Later, nVidia decided to counter the move by re-launching the GTX260 with 216 stream processors which matched and in some applications bettered the 4870 1GB.

I meant the SP216 one. I was really confused over the GTX 260/HD 4870. THe 4870 was 1k cheaper, and so was the performance, lil below the 260.

The original GTX 260 was a mess.

IIRC, It was 4870 512MB rather than 1GB, 4870 1GB was launched in response to 216 SP GTX 260..:)
