Hey guys,

Which one is better???

I m getting a GTX 480 at 13k, and a GTX 570 at 17k...

Which one should I take???
U can see my Sig for other details...

I will be playing all games in 3D on my Sony 46" 3D TV...
So the GTX 480's extra VRAM will be helpful...
And also I'll be getting it for 13k which is a really good deal...
Which one should I go for???

GTX 480 is a steal @ 13k, but note that this thing is infamous for its heat and power consumption. GTX 570 is fermi done right :P

Ya, I was thinking the same thing...

Are there any other reason other that Heat and Power consumption for choosing GTX 570 over GTX 480 ??? (Also considering the 4k cost diff...)

^ GTX 570 is ~ 5% faster than 480 plus it might have edge in overcloking too. Also, do expect a better driver support (i mean optimisations etc) for GTX 570. I'd say once again, GTX 570 is fermi done right :)

Don't bother with the 480. the 4k you save would be soon taken up by the power consumption of the card in the long run. GTX570 is a much better deal, newer card, slightly better performance, less power consumption, less heat and so on.

@Lord Nemesis: Thats true, but whichever I take will be replaced as soon as 600 series kicks in...

Still confused, Preferring GTX 480 more...

Get the GTX480 & swap the stock cooler for Arctic cooling Xtreme pro cooler.

That should regulate the heat.
It would be better and cheaper buying the GTX 570 then doing this...

But how much does the cooler cost???

Get the GTX480 in case you are gonna upgrade to 6xx. The deal is very good. But as mentioned before check if it works before buying :)

3~4K maybe.

check Arctic cooling's website.

I've changed my mind, get GTX570. It's cooler, as fast as GTX480, uses lesser power, and certainly overclocks better.

Then what is the difference between buying a brand new cooler running faster performing GTX 570 and a second hand GTX 480 .

When 600 series become available, the resale value of the 480 and 570 will be more or less the same. So i would recommend 480 as its 4k cheaper, as i think you can live with the extra heat and power consumption for the time being.

Just think of the time you buy the 600 series card. You have to sell off the card (480 or 570) and both will be around same resale price, and will have rendered similar performance till then.
End result with 480: you save 4k and enjoy same performace as 570. Dont bother about heat and power as its just a matter of some months.
End result with 570: You get about same resale price as a 480 would have sold for and had only same performance as the 480. You havnt saved much due to lower heat and power.

So thinking in that way, its 480 all the way for 13k. Put that 4k into investing for an SSD :)
