Graphic Cards gtx 590 or hd6990 which one sould i go for???

I wud say, stay with ur current setup and get a after market cooler for the GTX 580 (the top one which heats up more).
If u really wanna discard them then get the GTX590, atleast you will get better driver support.

OMG.....just coz of high temps, you're wanting to downgrade....FAIL....If uve got such bulgy pockets...why not go for another mobo with better spacing b/w pcie slots...just like the Asus Rampage III extreme...OR switch to water cooling

But, the cheap solution is to mount a high rpm/cfm fan blowing air perpendicular to ur sli setup....

BTW...How can i display my specs as an image...just like ur sig?

OT: You're too lazy to type out the whole word :|. This is not a chatter box.

Yeah...u got that right..I'm too lazy to type out full words...

But anyways what's the harm, if the OP can comprehend my comments..

Anyways, if u ever post a thread, I'll ensure that i type out full words.

BTW you missed out SIG....FAIL

Drivers for AMD 6xxx Series have been outstanding, as of now they are equal or better than Nvidia counterparts.

@OP: If I were you, I would change the motherboard instead of changing the GPU's. You would loose a lot of money selling off your 580's and then buying the overpriced HD6990.

^ your sig requires a microscope to see at first sight, noone even notices. double FAIL

LoL...Its meant to be that way.....You have to click it to reveal the specs (BEWARE, you might suffer from a cardiac arrest!)

Anyways, if u still have any probs with the sig, CONTACT CPUID>CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

AND as far as SMS lingo is concerned, sorry for the violation...IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN..(or at least I'll try my best)

Dustin Sklavos from AT says even the GTX590 and the HD6990 is an overkill for 2560x1600 res. :p

You know what? The most ideal upgrade you can give your system ATM is a change in the display to the Dell U2711. Or better still the U3011 if you can afford it. I see no reason why you cannot. The pair of GTX 580s will nicely complement the upgrade.

the best comment so far :p ..... i would second that !!! +1 to Gannu for not bickering :D

It all depends which resolution you gonna play the games and how many monitors are you going to connect and whether you going to have a multi-gpu config with these to beats (6990 & 590) later on..
For a single display setup as that of yours with 1080p native resolution, there is no point in switching over to any of the two options you have, neither 6990 nor the 590 as of now...Patience Comrade :D 580SLI still destroys both the 6990 and the 590..

You already know this i guess.. :eek:hyeah:

Whatever you choose, a 6990 or the 590, for a single display setup there won't be "noticeable difference" on whatever resolution you play on, though the 6990 does a descent 5-10 FPS more than the 590...the only game which i know the 590 beats the 6990 is HAWX 1, Battle-Forge and CIV-5 on every resolution...the 590 is also quieter than the 6990 in the db's recorded, that's the only issue i see with the 6990..

Again we stand staring at the same question, the 6990 or the 590, because they both are so damn similar in every aspect , but i think the only thing which will separate the two is the multi-gpu configuration choice :cool2:...the equations becomes completely different then...
one thing is for sure, in the near future if you go (and i think you surely will) for a multi-gpu setup with either of the two, the AMD's will run a bit hotter due to their boxy design but they will still decimate the 590 2/3 way SLI in terms of scalability and power consumption on a single display configuration...can't say the same for for multi-display setup as of now..

So i think this pretty much should be clearing your dilemma... go with the 6990 if you are so hellbent on buying a new card :hap2:
Peace. ;)

well, not to mention these are nvidia sponsored games..

and what do you think about the rest of the games, which Nvidia ain't "Sponsoring" bro...

i think just because Nvidia sponsors something, or if the intro says something similar to "Played best with a Nvidia" that doesn't mean the games true potential can be tapped with a Nvidia card Only...

I agree Nvidia Sponsored games may somehow take the advantage of the Phys X and similar technologies which game engines use, but concluding that a Nvidia card beats a AMD card just because the respective titles are sponsored by Nvidia ain't correct... ;)

Umm, okay so tell me one nVidia sponsored title where AMD beats nVidia card of the same price and competition...
go on name one...

here's the answer.. you cant..

Please correct me if i'm wrong but as far i know , ati does not support their products with better drivers...

Nvidia always have better driver support so performance agin of 20% in a few months...
