The crux of the matter is that NVIDIA and AMD have significantly different architectures, and once again this has resulted in cards that are quite equal on average but are all over the place in individual games and applications. If we just look at the mean performance lead/loss for all games at 2560, the GTX 590 is within 1% of the 6990, however within those games there’s a great deal of variance. The GTX 590 does extremely well in Civilization V as we’d expect, along with DIRT 2, Mass Effect 2, and HAWX. Meanwhile in Crysis, BattleForge, and especially STALKER the GTX 590 easily comes up short. Thus choosing the most appropriate card is heavily reliant what games are going to be played on it, and as a result there is no one card that can be crowned king..

Haha, I just stumbled upon the same thing. I was reading through the thing, otherwise I would have beaten you to this thread :P

yeah, no HD6990 benchies. BTW read this quick guys it might be taken down, it's 1 hour earlier than NDA.

HD 6990 beats the 590 in most cases! Check guru3d,techpowerup,xbit labs review

now Nvidia will be pretty pissed not being able to retain the flagship card crown!

Am sure they will come out hard next time! ;)

Final Thoughts

If my final thoughts start sounding like a broken record, it’s because once again a set of NVIDIA & AMD product launches have resulted in a pair of similarly performing products.

do it before a mod comes this way(i always get caught :P, use TPU's image hosting service)

The HD6990 or the GTX590 both are winners actually for their amazing performance.

But considering the HUGE GF110 silicon, much much more complex gpu and all shit, GTX590 is a fail in front of HD6990..

again AMD wins with a smaller GPU(yet priced similarly, no prizes for guessing who's reaping the most profits)

The single card crown for previous gen was also AMD's (HD5970).

Anyways, with the overinflated prices for HD6990 and GTX590 here and the performance offered for the price, I think HD6970 CF is still the way to go for Dual GPU enthusiasts in India. Neither of these cards deserve more than 36~37k considering HD6970 CF/ GTX570 SLI can be had for 41k.

This dual GPU solutions (red/green) are just too powerful. Literally hard to tame, and not large cases and equivalent PSUs. They totally dwarf every other component in terms of importance and failure point. I guess getting 2 single cards and bridging them together seems safer. Not to say the price point.

This is the most innovative conclusion I have ever seen in a graphics review. Bravo TPU!

Had so much expectation from this card... :(
