Guide To PSP Downgrading

To install 3.71 M33 you need the 3.52 M33-3 or M33-4 updates. They can be found Here.

Would be nice if the guide is updated !!

Also you might have to toggle the 1.50 or the 3.52 kernel to work these updates.

PSP Slim is mentioned but it should be clearly mentioned that PSP Slim can be hacked only using the pandora battery method. The firmware versions needs to be revised too. I think firmware version 3.71 M33-3 is already out.
 
I have upgraded to an Official v3.72 and now I am unable to downgrade it to any of the previous versions.. I tried the recover method described above, but in vain.. Its a new PSP and I haven't played a single game on it yet !

Some one help me in downgrading this..Some thing other than the pandora method as I have destroyed the battery too ( it got shorted) ...

Please help..
 
no offence but upgrading to the newest official firmware wasn't the smartest idea. i doubt there is any way to fix it now short of a pandora.

maybe you can try and find a friend who can help you? or are you planning to buy a new battery?

(the 'portable' in psp kinda depends on that)
 
Yup.. It's my cousin's actually.. he is planning to buy 2 batteries today.. Is there any member in Bangalore who can help us? it will be very much appreciated...
 
Picked up my PSP the other day...unfortunately its got 3.50 on it :(. and no Lumines UMD either :'( can someone in mumbai help me downgrade it?

i first downgraded from 2.60 to 1.5 official then installed 3.40 OE

and then again upgraded it to 3.52 M33

SO right now i am on 3.52 M33 and want to get to 3.71 M33

so i need to know how to this...i am gettin a bit confused ..

should i directly run 3.71 M33 update now..OR first update to the 3.52 M33-4 first and then ..go for 3.71 M33 ??

I got a detail guide for installing 3.52m33-4 then 3.71m33-3

but i am not understanding where do i start from as i am ON 3.52 M33 now.

so experts please help me out ..

Getting started

You will need the following:

* A PSP on 1.50 Firmware. Downgrade

OR

* A PSP on any OE firmware. OE Installation

* Your PSP battery is charged to at least 75%.

* The installation files: QuickJump Downloads-CFW-3.52-M33-PSP-Homebr...14167 -

* A USB cable, to connect your PSP to a PC.

Installation for 1.50

Installing 3.52 Custom Firmware on a 1.50 PSP:

* Copy the folders 'kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher%' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/' on your PSP's memory stick.

* Copy the folder 'M33CREATOR' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/' on your PSP's memory stick.

* Run the kxploitpatcher program.

* Download the official 3.52 update: PSP Downloads | PSP 3.52 Firmware Update and rename to 352.PBP.

* Copy the 352.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.

* Download the official 1.50 update: RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting and rename to 150.PBP.

* Copy the 150.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.

* Execute '3.52 M33 CREATOR' under GAME on your PSP.

* Then execute '3.52 M33UPDATE' under GAME on your PSP.

* Once finished, press X.

* Have fun on 3.52 Custom Firmware!

Installation for an OE/M33 firmware

Installing 3.52 Custom Firmware on an OE or a M33 PSP:

o Copy the folder 'M33CREATOR' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/' on your PSP's memory stick.

o Download the official 3.52 update: PSP Downloads | PSP 3.52 Firmware Update and rename to 352.PBP.

o Copy the 352.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.

o Download the official 1.50 update: RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting and rename to 150.PBP.

o Copy the 150.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.

o Execute '3.52 M33 CREATOR' under GAME on your PSP.

o Then execute '3.52 M33UPDATE' under GAME on your PSP.

o Once finished, press X.

o Have fun on 3.52 Custom Firmware!

or you could use the winstaller Winstaller UPDATE 10-14-07

How to Install M33 Updates: (M33 Firmwares only)

ALL M33 UPDATES CONTAIN THE PREVIOUS UPDATES. (E.G. Update 4 contains update 1, 2, and 3.

* Download the update 4 here . Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

* Place the update folder in the following directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/'

* Run the update from your XMB, under GAME > Memory Stick.

There you go 3.52M33-4

now on to 3.71m33

you will need

3.71 M33: PSP-Vault :: PSP downloads, community, news

and 3.71 Update file: http://www.psp-vault.com/UpDownload-req-getit-lid-2123.psp

MAKE SURE YOU KERNEL IS SET TO 3.52

you can do this in recovery mode

start the psp up whilst holding the R shoulder button down,go to configuration find the option for kernel and make sure it's on 3.52

Installation instructions:

First method for both psp, the prefered when possible:

Requeriments: a fat psp slim with 3.52 M33-3 or 3.52 M33-4. Previous versions of M33 won't work,

due to a bug that affects them and OE; or a psp slim with 3.60 M33.

- Copy the UPDATE directory into /PSP/GAME/UPDATE and copy the EBOOT.PBP of the 3.71 Sony updater

there but with name "371.PBP". Note: the program will not even show if you copy it to a different folder than that.

- If you are in the fat psp, make sure you have configured the psp to run the game folder in the 3.XX kernel.

- Execute the program, it requires 78% of battery. If you have idstorage corrupted due to a downgrader, the program

will ask you to correct it automatically so the update can continue.

- Press X, and the Sony updater will begin. Sit and enjoy while Sony code installs 3.71 M33 :)

- When finished, the updater will ask you to reboot (pressing X or O). DO IT. Do not skip this step

shutting down the psp by yourself, or you'll end with a brick.

- You should be now in 3.71 M33

All you need to do now is install the updates

so here we go

installing the 1.50 kernel patch (150 kernel addon 2)

#download the 150 kernel addon 2 from here Dark_Alex - PSP Developer

#download the 150 update from here RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

#rename the 150 update eboot to 150.pbp and place it in the root of your memstick

#put the kernel 150 addon 2 update folder in GAME folder on memstick

#scroll to game on xmb and launch the programme

#thats it you now have the 1.50 kernel

#scroll to game on you xmb and run the programme

Installation:

- If you have already a pandora ms, don't do this part. Otherwise,

format an ms using c+d mspformat or any other tool that allows to move

partition to ~250kb from first sector

Remove ms, usb and connect again usb and ms.

Make PSP and PSP/GAME dirs.

- Copy despertar_cementerio to PSP/GAME/

- Download 1.50, 3.40 and 3.71 update eboots and copy them to ms root with

150.PBP, 340.PBP and 371.PBP names.

- Use the app under a cfw with 2.x or 3.x kernel (be sure that kernel is

selected on recovery to the correct one (2.x or 3.x))

- Once finished, u will have msipl.bin on root. If you already have a pandora

ms, you don't have to do this step (ipl doesn't changes lol), otherwise,

use c+d msinst to install ipl on ms; or use dd command from unix, or any

hex-edit program to write on sector 16 on the physical drive.

- Now you can delete 340 and 150 PBP's, as they won't be used more; but 371.PBP

will be used for unbricker, so don't delete it.

- Now you have an universal pandora ms ready to go, and you just need a proper

battery. If you have 1.50 kernel access, use c+d tool. Otherwise, use corly149 tool.

Battery and ms will work on all psp and slims to this date.

Unbricking:

- Press X to install 3.71M33.

- Press O to install original 3.71 (rest of the process as the X option)

- Press [] to dump nand to nand-dump.bin. When done, psp will auto shutdown.

- Press L+R+HOME+start to restore nand from nand-dump.bin

This proccess is very dangerous, and you should *just* use it if it's your

last chance to get it working.

This is a physical restore process (not a logical one), and will try to make

a 100% exact clon of the dump.

If you are working with a dump that isn't yours, you will get either a brick

or a corrupt idstorage, depending on the firmware.

If while you are restoring your psp have got any damaged block more than

when you dumped it, you might also get a brick, depending on what block is it.

Works for both PSP and PSP Slim.

the themes for 3.71m33 all go on your memstick and you can change them whenever you want without flashing so this means no chance of a semi brick(yay:)

#create a folder called THEME inside the PSP folder on your memstick

#copy your desired theme.ptf to the newly created THEME folder on your memstick

thx a lot spacescreamer! Because of this guide and the one posted on after dawn forums, i managed to move from 2.71 to 3.71M33-3 :) ... now playing loco roco and simpsons game .... i've a very old psp - 1001 bot in 2005....with my first paycheck...it rocked then and it still rocks....repped ya

Copy paste the whole folder ....
then u shud see it in the GAME's TAB on the PSP ....run it ...follow the on-screen instructions ..
 
i just downgraded my psp slim using pandora battery (bought on ebay.uk).
anyone in KANPUR want to downgrade or unbrick his psp(normal or slim) can contact me
