GeForce 9600 GSO 384 MB review | Point of View
so NVIDIA replaced the GeForce 8800 GS with the GeForce 9600 GSO. The 9600 GSO is still based on the same G92 core with 96 stream processors that the 8800 GS has, but NVIDIA gave card makers a bit more freedom in their designs in terms of own PCB design to and determine their own clocks. This 'old' card will still have 384 MB of GDDR3 memory over a weird 192-bit memory interface.

awesome VFM at 100$ price point :D

This will take place of 8600GT now :)....at 5k~5.5k arnd soon in India :)...just wait till end of this mnth
 
How are the power requirements of this compared to an 8600GT? The article mentions 26A on 12V rails, but doesn't compare it against other cards. If this card shows up soon I would probably go for it, but would the standard SMPS with the VIP cabinets be enough for this?
 
It's a rebadged 8800GS G80, so it's quite a bit more demanding than the 8600GT. Should work fine with aftermarket supplies, even the entry level ones (such as the Cooler Master and POV supplies, eg). The only thing I'd trust with a 'stock' supply that comes with cabinets, is fans and CCFLs, or a very low-power integrated rig.

This card looks good for monitors up to 1280x (17") and even 1600x (19") for most games and reasonable amounts of eye candy. The 8800GS launched at the price point of US$170-180, this is basically the same card at half the price.

This may well be my next card,

PS : Will the default power supplier with the CPU case be able to power this card?????

i euro is arnd 55 indian bucks.. 1 usd is 42 indian bucks.

and phoenix has a 9600gso for 6.3k... check the dealers section

1 word answer: :no: no :)

U simply need a better PSU, min something like a cheapo VIP gold or coolermaster ~1.5k ones.

Oh damn no,
i can't do 3 upgrades in a month,

Already a 1 GB ram + maybe 9600 GSO + power supplier, huh, that will be a lot, 6.3 + 1 + 1.5 = 9 k, lol
 
@zhopudey: phoenix has it goin on preorder @ 6.2 :D

@forum67: doesnt make a diff dude, unless its OCed or something. The ref chip is the same for everyone :P
