Dude...I second that. I almost lost my entire stash and the best part is, I had it on two HDDs. I managed to wreck my 1st HDD and screw up partition information on the 2nd when my 1st one went for RMA.
Thank god for GetDataBackforNTFS, I managed to recover everything completely(except for empty folders which it does not recover..wonder why. I had to spend 4 hrs manually comparing and recreating the folders from the recovery tree display and the recovered data.) Full 287 gigs recovered :yahoo: .
HDDs are the best for a central location for all your data but treat em well and keep more backups.
Anyone have any idea where the new WDs are made? My new Hitachi is made in China and I have the distinct feeling that it's noisier that my original one made in Thailand. I donno if it's just perception and my anti-China stance but it feels that way to me.
wd drives are picked from home by the courier guys and 6 -7 days returned back by them you dont need to go to them and things. unlike seagate were u need to go to their rma center and get it replaced.
