Review Hackers are trying to Hack me!

1) when you unpacked the zip, presumably you got a video file
- What was the extension of this video file?
- what happened when you tried to play the video? did you see this 30s promo they wanted you to embed in your videos?

2) You say most virus checkers have a hard limit on file size yet the website you used indicated that no less than ten virus checkers had no trouble checking a file that was 350MB.

What file size hard limit do virus checkers have then? I never heard of this before.

3) why is the virus checker showing the file name you uploaded as SamsungPortableSSD.exe?

Isn't it a video file that you uploaded?

4) which leaves us with the primary question of why the unzipped file was so big. Is there a video format that allows being compressed to such a high extent? 100x?

In theory, if the numbers are predictable by the codec then possibly it could fill in the gaps.

Could you identify the codec used in the video file by using the tool, mediainfo

Post a screenshot of what MediaInfo says this video file contains.

5) I'm not aware of any video file that can be used to transmit a virus/trojan. In days gone by it was possible by exploiting vulnerabilities in Microsoft's video player. These days Microsoft forces security updates on everyone so any exploit isn't going to remain active for long.

" sadly nothing happened .. " :p
That made my day !
Instructive video on phishing ...
I even trolled them. I wrote back that nothing is happening on clicking the file. Then they sent me an updated malware, Which also did not work. I think windows defender does a good job nowadays.

1. The zip file contained a .png file and the video file was a .scr (screensaver) file
2. It is different for different website. Virustotal scan till 700MB while Kaspersky scans till 240 MB. Other websites and programs will have different limits
3. I don't know. Probably it was from metadata of the program
4. I have answered the question in the video. I used a hex editor to look at the code and found that majority of the program is made up of zeros. So effectively the program becomes big when uncompressed but small when compressed.

SCR is an executable file. Red flag right there. They can be used as a vector to spread viruses especially if the source cannot be trusted

Maybe this is why it showed up as exe in the virus checker.

Either that or it is supposed to deliver the malware in such a way (as a background process) that the user will not notice anything happening. I would expect Windows Defender to prompt the user if it did detect the malware though.

I have observed that a lot of YouTube channels are getting hacked. How the hackers are doing it ? The users claim that they never clicked any suspicious link, installed anything suspicious or did anything still they got hacked.

Even I want to know. But youtube asks the hacked channels not to disclose what went wrong. They probably don't want the hack to propogate.

My nephew with 20 subs got hacked and someone posted crypto videos on his channel. I have a few lakh subs so I am worried.
Hello fellow youtuber. Please share your channel. I have 2FA on and I plan to log out from monetized youtube account from my windows computer altogether and use only mac os to access that account. Executables can run only from windows so removing windows from the equation gives an additional layer of protection. I also don't give out the email linked to my monetized youtube account.

I don’t think trolling the people trying to hack you is a great idea. It just Paints a bigger target on you in the ocean of people. This kinda unwanted attention may get you in trouble. The hacker community is close and passes challenges amongst each other. you might just become one challenge which a really talented hacker, eager to prove a point might take on and be successful at. There is nothing called unhackable.

Personally, I think they are stupid, lazy and novice at best. Who uses a free email to impersonate big organization? Why have one name in the email and introduce themselves by other name. Also I would rather troll them because it is not like they are going to stop sending me such emails. Might as well troll and demoralize them

Yeah, I remember this guy Ankit Fadia as many would have known a decade back as a self proclaimed ethical hacker who challenged the hackers to hack his website for which they obliged and hacked it within hours, not once but they did it thrice if I remember.

This is true but these YouTube hacker and elites are two different leagues. Elites are not interested in these petty tasks and novices are keen on getting easy money.
