The month of Ramadan kicks off from today and as always, Pista House, Hyderabad and Gati has a tie-up to deliver Haleem (fresh to a few metro cities, tinned to Coimbatore and Vizag).

What is Haleem?

I have personally used their service a couple of years back and the quality of the haleem delivered was excellent. I have had it from Pista House as well and can vouch for them. The rates are inclusive of shipping prices. And this is one hell of a dish for non-veg folks - you will ABSOLUTELY love this dish!

If there's any other bakery/restaurant that offers a similar service, do let us know!

Not related probably but some years back i guess the Karachi Bakery Fruits Biscuits were available only (i may be wrong) in Hyderabad at their shop. But today i can buy the same biscuits at my local Dmart.
Hell i even bought them when i was in US as the local Indian grocery store had them.

Genrally asking ..
Is Haleem available throughout the year?
Secondly, Haleem is available in 2 variants.. Which one is getting more votes by connoisseurs..??

Haleem is avaiable only during the month of Ramdan. Many places do sell throughout the year but the real craze (and Pista House) comes only during Ramdan.
If by variants you mean - Chicken/Mutton - then Haleem is supposed to be made from Mutton only. Many places do prepare Chicken too but thats not as good as Mutton.

@Gannu seems too excited for the Haleem and wrote Pizza House :p
He probably was surfing the dominoes pizza website as well while posting.

Crap! I meant Pista there. :p Fixed it.

Btw here's a free Domino's coupon valid only on Wednesdays until this month-end:

From the screenshot, 575 Rs / Kg incl shipping.

How long is the shelf life of this food? If frozen can it be consumed in a week or two?
Asking cause if a bachelor stays alone I don't think he's going to be eating a kg of non veg food in one sitting.

When it comes to meat, usually about 2-3 days in the fridge.

Frozen depends on the freezer, if it goes down to -10 degrees and lower C then you will be able to hold it for 3-6 months.

0 degrees or just a little below about a month.

Don't think you have to buy a kilo, there should be smaller packs available locally. Doubt the courier would do less though.

Yup, local haleem you could eat anytime. But like you said these guys go gaga over Hyderabadi haleem from pista house every year. So wanted to taste it atleast once.
My freezer does up to -8 in one section I think.

@raksrules, friends are all fish or chicken lovers. No one likes mutton.
Btw even I've mostly stopped eating non veg from past few months. Used to eat just eggs once a month. Even that stopped. Got bored of non veg food. :p

rant - Autocorrect in android is dumb. /rant

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is this? Chicken/Goat/Cow - what meat is in the haleem?
I guess its normally mutton (goat meat).

I tasted its once or twice - in Infy Mysore they use to have a open-to-all feast on the day of Eid (not sure the day exactly) and Haleem was served there alongwith other stuffs.
I felt it like - halwa/kheer/suji - but made of meat (very small pieces).

I want to try it once again. Anybody know any decent local shop in South Bangalore area?

Mostly mutton, unless explicitly specified that it is chicken. Beef is very rarely used, though Pista House doesn't use it AFAIK.

The original Haleem recipe used beef and it is the tastiest when compared to other varieties.[DOUBLEPOST=1373473228][/DOUBLEPOST]

Not true in case of Hyderabad; it is available year round.

Not the Best throughout the year. That taste only comes during Holy Ramzan Month. There's a Place called "cafe 555" which sells haleem 1month extra after Ramzan. Never Got the Same taste though.

Do you Guys know that most of the Haleem makers use BEEF in small Quantities. One being my Friends which sells a plate for 80-90 bucks.
He argues there will be no real taste in that if there's no BEEF. LOL
I usually have it from Shah Ghouse, They can be Trusted.

Pista house isnt like they used to. These days Shah Ghouse are better. FYI, Pista House also makes a Veg Haleem. but IMO its not worth trying.
