Handheld Gaming Devices

PS Vita emulates PSP games but is said its not be as good and kinda more expensive do you have any experience with the same?
No sir.
I have experience with psp but I sold that too.
My best purchase in recent times is Nintendo Switch.
The games are so easy to pick and play that I don't think I would want any handheld consoles for some years from now.

Nice one
Bought a steamdeck but was just too heavy and big so sold it, but switch is in all honesty a good choice

Something I have noticed recently.
Is while playing retro games on emulator on switch oled.
I get amazing battery life.

I have been playing bomberman 1, bomberman 93 .

And even after playing for 30-40 mins .
I see only 3%-4% or so of battery life depleted.
While playing switch first party or latest games it is generally 2-3 hrs of maximum gameplay. Depending on games.

So it can be quite interesting facts for people looking for retro games handheld with bigger batter life .

Most 90s emulators are very low on requirements, especially if you are not looking for absolute cycle accuracy. Pretty sure you will get much better battery life on a phone with a modern SoC and bigger battery than a Switch for these cases.

You are right.
I just wanted to point out to something interesting in regards to playing retro games.

For 10k, you will top out at Dreamcast or N64 with a not so great screen and controls. Feel an extensible control for 2-3k with any recent phone is going to be a much better experience.
To contradict myself a bit, I have a BSP D8-Pro that I used to use with my tablet before I sold it. I use it occasionally with my phone, but it doesn't seem practical to carry it for short distances while I also don't want to ruin the battery of my primary phone.

Realised that I needed something more pocketable and from the 2D era to while away time when basically waiting around at different places. To that end, I placed an order for the Miyoo Mini Plus because of all the rave reviews for Onion OS and how good the D-pad and face buttons are in comparison to same priced Ambernic devices.

I can still reject delivery at door is what I have been told, so still weighing whether I should go for the Ambernic 35XX Plus or 40XXV instead for increasing the scope to N64, Dreamcast and PSP, though the opinion is pretty clear that those consoles are not particularly usable at full speed, work really poorly with a D-Pad and that the Analog stick in the 40XXV is really poor.

Check for a Retroid Pocket 5 instead, you should be able to play all your games there, however you actually want a smaller handheld, look into a cheap PSVITA too, I have one and pretty good, after modding it, it emulates PSP, PS1, Gameboy Advance, Dreamcast etc.

Did check the Retroid Pocket 5 initially but don't want to spend that much on a device I would be using occasionally for emulation. Probably would get an android phone itself with an 8 series Snapdragon instead. But then state of Android emulation is quite worse than Linux considering most original developers develop for Windows or Linux and then you have other developers porting over to Android.

The native support for PSP and PS1 is good for the Vita but then it still costs more than double of what these Chinese device support at around the same level of performance.

I actually prefer emulating 3D games on my OLED laptop, simply because of the screen and possibility of upscaling, so prefer simpler stuff on a handheld.

Decided to keep the Miyoo Mini Plus. I must say that I am pretty impressed with the quality of the controls. Also, Onion OS is remarkably optimised in terms of how it responds, launches, switches games on such low end hardware.

Also, loaded the Done Set 3 on it with few games swapped. Quite easy to search and launch specific games. Mainly like the fact that it easily slips into the pocket (shorts or formals) and runs everything up to PS1 smoothly. Anything larger or with an analog stick will not fit the pocket, so quite happy with the differentiation it offers.
