CPU/Mobo Hardware Assembling Guide Required

Hi there,

I am a hardware newbie:eek:hyeah:

Currently i have a P-III machine but i am planning to upgrade in October to a Core2 Duo based system.

Now, i want to assemble my new system myself but don't know how to proceed.

It would be gr8 if some hardware gurus from Techenclave can put up a hardware assembling guide (along with photos) for the new Conroe and AM2 based systems. It would really help the newbies like me to get our hands dirty in hardware.

I would anyday let a dealer do the job rather than taking that kind of a risk, although you can read up and learn by seeing as well. Or go to any TE members house and let him do it for you.

well, If you are a complete newbie to this stuff, you might get some assistance from a friend or someone who knows how to assemble. you can do the assembling while he watchs that you dont do something wrong. One reason why one would want to get it done from the dealer is that if something goes wrong in their hands, its thier sole responsibility to immediately do something about it.

I had assembled about 8 rigs till now, but the last (the one I am using right now) was assembled by a person at the shop itself. I simply did not have the tools nor the time to get the tools. The guy who assembled did such a bad job that I had to redo most of it again at home.

First he tried to connect a SATA HDD with a PATA cable.  Then he connected the Power LED in reverse and wondered why it didnt work. He was saying to me that the polarity for the indicator(its an led) does not matter.

Hey thanks for those links. They are really good.
I have a friend who used to assemble PCs some time back but don't know whether he'll be available or not.

Yesterday i got my hands dirty for the first time on my existing system (P-III).

I opened the cabinet, removed the processor fan (it took quite an effort!) and took out the CPU and again placed it on its bed.

I haven't assembled it back again. So, i guess i can experiment with my existing system before laying my hands on the new one.

The reason i created this thread was because i wanted some TE members to put forward an assembling guide complete with pictures in the Guides Section so that new users could benefit with it.
