Has AirTel doubled their speeds since last night?

I, like everybody else on AirTel have been stuck with the 256 kbps @ 1k a month. Since last night i've been getting speeds of upto 512 kbps.

Anybody else notice this?
 
Not here, get the usual double speed kicking in from 11 in the night till 7 in the morning, then goes back to 256.
 
Hmmm... I don't think they ever gave us the "Double the Speed in the Night" deal here. Very few people in B'lore actually got that about a year ago and I haven't heard a peep about it since then.

This however is all new... I haven't been downloading the last couple of days, ever since one of my drives crashed but when I started last night it went through the roof. I thought it was just a temp thing but it's 9:30 in the morning now and it still seems to be on.
 
Did a few tests... it seems to be consistent. Hope it lasts :P

Its a glitch...Airtel has removed night double speed across all circles... I am also having this glitch...around 1:00 am the speed doubles & remain untill 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm (day time).... but if you disconnect & reconnect then it remains @ 256kbps....

i am on 699 plan ..hvnt experienced nything as such ..my speeds doubles at night ...but still that sucks!...im gna switch to tata soon..
 
Defnitely go to Tata, Airtel need to wake up and see they are losing market share to make any changes :)
 
^^yup....airtel peeps sure r sleeping....since long...f*ck em"...i wonder if they ever come up wid ny 2mbps plans even in 2 yrs....
 
^they already have 2mbps plans..it just aint unlimited..i guess all the other plans are similar to tata except the night unlimited one which i read in another thread might not work in the coming few months..ie once they reach their sales target..
 
Hmmm, i have been getting 512 constant for the last 2 days aswell. Queued up my Utorrent for till the next month's B/W ~ ~
And here i was thinking that they doubled my speed coz i called and screwed with their nodal officer ~ ~
 
So till now it's just 2 of us across TE?

For me it's still on. Just checked again.

Myabe they had mistakenly shifted your account to a 512kbps limited account and charging you according to that....

Btw i would like to see your face when airtel messes up your bill and charges you 20k for the downloads (the visa master card moment ) :rofl: :rofl:

btw its better to check with airtel,about what plan you are currently on :)
 
Hahaha... yeah... that definitely would be a Visa / Mastercard moment.

I've been on the 256 UL plan for about 2 years now. There is no way that I have upgraded to 512 UL @ 2k a month. I wanna see how long this goes on... besides you know what they say... never look a gift horse in the month and don't try to fix something that ain't broke. ;)
 
Where are you located? I'm from Pune, and on the same 256k unlimited plan, and my speeds have increased by a bit too. Not doubled, though.
I was at a cyber cafe at MG Road last night, and the airtel engineer was there. I overheard him telling someone on his phone that the whole of Pune has a network problem. Maybe you've gotten lucky, and some poor s.o.b's been disconnected.

yup, the usual 30-32kbps dl has bumped up to 34-38kbps, just a slight increase, but not bad at all.

you said AirtelBB had some network problem? strange, i only had like a 1 minute downtime yest after the sudden rainshowers, seems fine now.
