has iPhone 3G been Unlocked

Unlocked iPhones are available in many countries like Hong-Kong, Italy and many others, but the one in OP's link comes with a *sim.

To clarify, suppose I pick up a unlocked Iphone from Hong Kong, will it work with an Airtel sim in India? Or will it be restricted to a Hong Kong carrier?

It will work on any network in any country.

Sim is called Turbo sim.....but heard its not reliable.....

Its called *sim because there are many companies selling different types : like Turbo-Sim, Universal-Sim, Gevey-Sim etc. etc.
 
You could unlock the iphone 3g yourself using winpwn or quickpwn and loads of tutorials out there which tell you how to do it.

You cannot. Winpwn or quickpwn can only jailbreak the iphone 3g.
 
^ 3G can be jailbroken but not unlocked !

those sim based unlocks are not that reliable, also their legality is an issue as they fake the IMSI code

Ofcourse it's been unlocked , I used quickpwn on my 3g to update to 2.1 (5f136) fw and it works with vodafone , dolphin and airtel without any issues.

Either you are using a *sim unlock solution (which is dangerous) or you have an unofficially unlocked iPhone.

Quickpwn/Winpwn/Pwnage tools CANNOT unlock iPhone 3G at the moment.

Nope they do work i have 2 of my frndz who have done this.

Yeah.. What he said is right.. it says the clearly on the quickpwn install also.. iphone 3g cannot be unlocked yet..
 
But i came through this piece of info that 3G can not only be jailbroken now but also unlocked by Pwnage tool 2.0
