Have you ever experienced hatred from others for speaking English ?

One of my friends had a big altercation with a group of elderly men and women who had asked him that why couldn't he speak Tamil when he was standing in Tamil Nadu.
He asked them in response that why couldn't they speak Hindi when standing in India and literally told them to STFU.

Was stopped by a Cop late night. There were a bunch of people. Showed him documents and he tried to insult me by saying I dont know the local languages.
Took my time taking that sh1T.

When he asked me to go, I sat on my bike and told him the exact same thing.

The politicians in Tamil Nadu have played the language card for far too long and the people there are suffering for it. As long as they're in their own sate it's no big deal, but see them outside and you'll come to know. Met a Tamilian in a train and he said exactly the same thing, he can understand Hindi, but not talk properly. They are shunned to learn Hindi from a young age, even in schools.

In my college ,student who speaks well in english are treated high .So i never heard like this situation

It's funny because even that is a selective behaviour which I don't like. You know English and you're somehow better, you don't know English and you're somehow not better. People have different mother tongues and English is mainly taught in schools, hence it is foolish to treat someone based on their knowledge of one language or the another.

Actually, you need to delve a wee bit deeper here.

Let's say there are two students A & B in a college. A is fluent in English while B is poor at it. For the purpose of discussion, let's assume they both have the same amount of native/inherent intelligence and they work equally hard.

A will tend to surpass B in his academic life simply because of his English language abilities. As a result, he will be looked up to by people and may even become a favourite of his professors. B might be distraught by this occurrence. He may find it unfair. In some situations B may have to take help from A or be his sub-ordinate in some way.

This difference in treatment and outcomes, which is really neither the fault of A or B can have all sorts of implications on the psychology of both English and non-English speakers.

@OinkBoink Agreed. I was commenting on the behaviour and not about the outcomes. Though, after a while it becomes a habit.
