^ Lol why for me?

ATI IQ is better, Its all time solution, HD movies, decent gaming etc.

If you have a P35 chipset , then no way you should go for nVidia. You shud have mentioned that in the first post hehe.

Go for the Sonic card if you wish for a bit more performance , plus the cooler is also slightly better , thus reducing the slight heating problems in the ATi cards , but if you are on a budget , go for the normal 4850.

P35 and nvidia cards? any problems never heard about

i am using p35 and nvidia

no problems

the reason i will not recommend nvidia for p35 is only because p35 supports only Crossfire and not SLI.(if you have a dual slots board. why not use them?):)

other than that i dont know much about the compatibility issues(if any)

theyre talking about nvidia in SLI not a single nvidia card.

ok,..i have almost finalized on the Radeon HD 4850.

but still i cant get 9800GTX+ out of my head,..it is only 1k costlier than 4850 and seems to be beating 4850 in most of the benchmarks:

My take on the 4850 vs 9800GTX+ - [H]ard|Forum

also it seems that the 9800GTX+ seems to be oveclocking well against the 4850 while consuming less power.

and on a more personal note,..i have never had a ATI gfx card before so i am a bit skeptical about changing sides :ohyeah:

i guess my real question is which of these cards will be more future proof?

4850 overclocks too and may not oc as much in clock speed but the end result might still be better than a oc'ed 9800gtx+
and 9800gtx+ and 9800gtx both consume more power than a stock 4850,

and don't believe in a forum guy posting that he had both cards or was dissatisfied with one card and got the other camp's option, for most of time they are fanboys who have nothing better to do.:P
if you are a bit adventurous the 4850 will clock quite good with a pencil mod,a simple bios mod will be good for 700~750.
as for CF these cards,a 16x/4x p35 will be horrible, you should at least get a p45 mobo.

is here a huge difference between p35 and p45? i know that the p45 is the successor to the hugely successful p35. it is also more expensive than p35 :P

and that it supports PCIe 2.0

another thing about the p45 is that it has 1600 Mhz fsb. and i have a q6600 processor which has stock fsb @ 1066 Mhz. so unless i overclock it (that wont help much either),..i think the p45 will be a overkill.

^ Bottomline, if you are thinking of CF u have to get atleast P45. Overclocking Quad is better/stable with P45. Gigabyte Ep45UD3P Rs. 9.5k approx VIA KMD is a sensible buy at this time.

pcie 2.0 and the ability to run them in a x8/x8 mode which is equivalent to 16x/16x pcie 1.0 which isn't possible on the p35.
the biggest advantage it has over p35 is for CFing cards and providing ample bandwidth so that the cards don't get bottlenecked from the pcie bus.
