Intel DG31PR motherboard
Cooler master exterme 600 w
Sapphire 4870 512 mb
Transcend 2 gb ram
Samsung 20" monitor

Pls reply soon

You could..

1. Get your System Administrator fired.
2. Ask your System Administrator to create a profile here -- so he can learn a few things.

You have a great GPU, and it will do wonders on your system for 3D render. Enjoy, rest assured.

Re: Intel DG31PR and hd 4870 combo

Not that the CM EP600w PSU won't take those loads - just that it is not efficient as other power supplies and the power rating is over-rated. Besides, it has blown up several systems taking away other components with it.

Re: Intel DG31PR and hd 4870 combo

System administrators?? :S

That's not even a right title for such people. Its obvious that he's nothing more than an assembler, not even a technician and assemblers usually have a lot of arrogance/ego clogged in their brains that they know everything just *because* they know how to put a system together and did the same for others, even in this forum. We're living with people where they will just say anything half/no knowledge whatsoever.

Oh yeah, don't invite him to the forums, we have enough n00bs traveling in packs like a bunch of wolves already >_>"

Re: Intel DG31PR and hd 4870 combo

K as other senior members suggested i will get a new PSU by getting money from my friends. Now here is my problem !! GPU overheating . I am having HD 4870. Now only gotta new cabin coolermaster with 2 120 mm fans and 2 90 mm fans, enough ventilation. Now I sensed a plastic burning smell inside my PSU . But pc is running fine. My question is .. CAN PSU BE THE REASON FOR OVERHEATING OF GRAPHIC CARD !!! :(((( REPLY SOON

Possibility does exist if that's what you are trying to ask.

In any case you have to change to a better psu not because of the cooling, but because of the health of the system. If your hardware is burnt, the warranty if voided and depending on the damage it could be irreparable. In this case, you're wasting money and piece of mind. There's something called capacitor plague (google for it) and depending on the damage it can give any problem- between instability and even temperature increase. Changing from a bad psu to a good one will not repair these damages.

Its because of this people advice for a good enough psu for the system before making certain upgrades. Prevention is better than cure, but if people don't understand from peers who learnt it the hard way or know what they are saying, they understand when a system gets into a problem, its simply a matter of when.

First, change the psu. Second, mention which ati drivers you are using. 3RD- which case. Don't be under the "more fans=more ventilation' impression. Putting more fans doesn't mean more cool and depending on the case and other components inside the case, it does more harm than good. 4th, what are temps of the other hardware components. If possible, put up the screenshot of HWmonitor (google, download and install it) over here.

So in order to bring your thread to the front to be visible to the members, you have created another thread :ohyeah: , right ?.

You can bump a thread to bring it up...
