Storage Solutions HDD crash! Data retrieval ?

My colleague's Seagate 500GB HDD crashed. Please let me know of any place where they do data retrieval stuff in Hyd for a lesser price(<Rs 2000... I know this service can be expensive but thats all she can afford).

Will this retrieval attempt void the warranty, coz the HDD is under warranty.

Also, do the Seagate Service centers take up repairing at all or is it just about replacement?

For warranty, first go to seagate.

Show them the drive and say you want to do data recovery, as it is dead, they will give you a letter saying so & so s/n no. drive checked dead by us.

Next you can give it for recovery, and then give it back for replacement.

Cheap recovery - not seen so far in mumbai, always been 15k+.

What about repairs?

HDD Repair is a VERY expensive process. Will cost u like hell. Keep in mind HDD are very delicate & precise technology, so to repair them takes equal amounts of precision. To set up such a lab outside the factory needs loads of money, and so the charges are quite high.
