Storage Solutions HDD damaged !! need to buy new one...

Hello guys,

yesterday when I had removed my Wd 1 TB HDD from case (wanted to take it at bro's place) it fell on floor from hand of my mom and since then its not getting detected. Neither at my place nor at my bro's place...:S:( There's no crack or anything outside but I think its damaged from inside. And its out of warranty:(... So I think I will have to buy new one...

Please can somebody suggest me which new (internal) hard disc to buy?? My budget is max 5500 rs. There are Seagate and WD easily available within my area of living. But there are different models I checked on website. Im not a hardware freak. So I couldn't much understand how their technical specs will affect my use. My work is mostly web graphics designing, light gaming. ANd there are loads of HD movies, songs, etc. So storage is main purpose. I think I don't need high performance HD (whatever that means).

So please suggest me the HD. WD Green Caviar is in my mind. Can I get the 1.5 TB in the mentioned budget ??

Edit : I want to know what is cache size. Which cache size I shall ask for ??
 
if there is no visible damage (outside) ur WD HDD then if its under warranty, then you can sent it for warranty replacement too.Else get WD make too, they are good for performace & service.
 
Hey thanx for reply guys... but surprisingly I came to know that WD provides 3 years warranty which I did not know before.. I thought its 1 yr or so... so my HD is under warranty. I will try for replacement. so lets see. I will update in few days. Thanks for the response..:)
 
I checked there's no sign of damage outside. But how can I recover data ? I couldn't find WD data recovery partner in India... anybody knows ? I live at Pune.
