I got a sudden string of errors yesterday, System tray kept showing "Delayed Write Failed" and pop up errors showed that "Could not write to E:\XXXXX. The data has been lost. This may be caused by a hardware error or a network problem." or something along those lines.

I restarted the PC and everything seemed to be working fine.

Any ideas on whats wrong?

Yes you can call it secondary HDD....

I've checked the cable a few times and its in properly.

No idea about the PSU, I did change it a couple days ago.

change the power pin that you connecting to the HDD..maybe the molex u using to this HD have some lose connection. this delay write fail .. usually I see with my very first external USB HDD.

this one is mostly hardware issue afaik at least for all the times it happened to me

it happened quite often when my system was overclocked and the hdd was connected to a unlocked sata port

and once when my cable was faulty.

I got this error too recently. I used to think that it was due to the HDD getting hot inside the case. I then noticed that my leg was pulling at the cable a bit everytime I moved around. the cable was almost pulled out at the USB port thus creating a poor connection. The error went away when I restarted and used the ext HDD after some time.
