Hello Everyone,

I've been having this problem on my Seagate 160GB SATAII HDD for about 3-4 days now. When I boot , it does the usual checks but then I get a line at the end saying failed to read primary hard disk or something like that. I boot it a few more times and keep getting the same error but Windows 7 eventually starts off fine. I have two HDDS, one is the160GB Seagate, (which runs the OS - Windows 7) the other is the WD Caviar Green 1TB.

I've been thinking of backing up my data to an external HDD, reinstalling Windows onto the 1TB Drive and removing the 160GB altogether. Thing is, I don't have an external HDD. So I was wondering if there was a way to "shift" the OS onto the 1TB without having to backup and/or losing my data.

Any other advice would also be most welcome! Thanks! :)

And that helps me how? Dude, if you want to rant, please by all means create your own thread.

you can simply clone your Windows partition from 160gigger onto 1TBhdd but partition size will have to be exact same, matching it cluster by cluster

you can use a Opensource tool called "PartImage" to accomplish disk imaging, it comes bundled in SystemRescueCd

first check your power and data connectors. could be loose?

use a SMART status tool and check the output. Also try to use seatools and see what it says.

post back asap.

Back up your data right away.

Thanks very much guys. Gotta go to office right now so all this will have to wait a bit. :D

Even my HDD Segate 500gb had crashed. When i gave it for replacement i got a HDD with 0.0gb storage.

These days SSD FTW
