Re: HDTV buying advice thread

had my mind set on the Samsung LA40C630, so went to my dealer to book it, on getting there he tell me he has a surprise for me, apparently samsung have dropped their price on the 40",LED model which is the UA40C5000 which now sells at 68K MRP. my dealer was giving it to me for 58K after a lit of pushing. thought is might be a way of getting rid of some old stock or something so he showed me the official pricing sheet from samsung.

so guys do u think its a good offer..?? both models are for the same price, same size, 1 is the 6000 series other is 5000 series, n 1 is LCD n other is LED.

I can't really comment on LED vs LCD but just make sure what panel you are getting.
SPVA is supposedly good.
Take a look at the list and the article here: Panel Switching in Samsung TVs: What We Know So Far

LA40C630 is a Series 6 LCD

and UA40C5000 is a Series 5 LED

may be that is why the lower price of 40" LED. Series 6 LED is around ~87k

1. AFAIK SQ02 is almost same as SQ01 (both S-PVA 10 bit panels with a 92% gamut)

2. SQ02 is SPVA

3. Worried for what?

3. Hell NO! Like I said before, SPVA is what you should be getting. Congrats again. :)

Where have I mentioned before that the SQ01/02 are 10-bit panels? :S

They are certainly 8-bit panels. 10-bit panels don't come this cheap lol.

I may just be mistaken here but which are the 10-bit models available in India?

Not sure regarding the newer lineups but previously Sony V300A series, V550A series, X350A series, XBR series, Z550A, some of the W series etc. sport the 10-bit panel and Sony advertises them promptly in this regard. Some of the higher-end Philips (PFL9XXX series IIRC) sports a 10 bit panel.

Do not confuse a 10-bit panel with 10-bit processing.

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

One of my relatives is interested in Samsung LA32C630 LCD. I checked in compareindia, the best price quoted is 35900/-.

My relative is saying dealers at his place are quoting 2 to 3K more than what price compareindia is displaying.

It would be really helpful if anyone can provide me the price of the Samsung LA32C630 LCD ?

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

^Cost of LA32C630 in NCR is ~43k @Jumbo and Samsung Dealers quote around 44k.

If it is from ebay, would Sony representatives come to your residence for installation? Ring them up and find out. Do enquire about the wall-mount kit as well. The ebay dealer may not ship it in all probability.

As for the choice, I'd say do a demo from a e-zone/Vijay sales outlet and finalise it. Not sure what panel the Toshiba uses. Sony definitely doesn't use the SPVA panel from Samsung.

@Roxtin . Thank you for the price inputs.

Perhaps 2 to 3K more than 35900/- is a good price compared to the ones which you have provided. I'll ask him to hard bargain for some more deductions and finalize the purchase.
