I am looking for a head unit for Toyota Corolla which has come back to me after 3 long years after i my brother stole my xtrail recently :@.The car is the 1st gen corolla which comes with that huge crappy HU it supports only cd's and no aux in.I am looking for some thing which has mp3 support,aux in and mem card/ipod support .I doubt i will be using cd's as i am planning to use my sansa or D2+ with the HU .

Speakers are going to be stock as now but will be upgrading slowly to better ones iff i don't dump the car in the next one year .Planning for some thing BIG.I want to future proof the head unit .When i am upgrading the speakers i dont want some one saying this HU is incompatible( This happened with my xtrail) .

I have no budget in mind not even sure how much would a decent one would cost ??.Preferred place of purchase India or Singapore if there is international warranty for HU's.

Do not mind buying used HU if its in decent condition off team-bhp since i might(90% chances) dump the car in max one years time.The car is done just 50K is 5 years :P

I have a doubt the usual HU's are small when compared to the stock HU on Corolla( Innovas also have the same crappy HU) so when i fit the new HU how am i supposed to close off the gap which will be created :S.
 
u can get any pioneer hu in ur budget.. they r pretty solid and way easier to fix then kenwood/sony n other brands.. if u want the cheapest .. i think there is a model below mine minus subwoofer out/ should come well under 6k .my suggestion would be getting the cheapest hu out there and use it till u have this car.. ne way its got 5+yrs on it.. i have a 02/03 first gen rolla myself. and its started showing issues a yr back.. plan to sell it sooon myself.. so just get a way better hu when u buy ur new ride.. .. thats just my 2 cents.. get something like the DEH-2250UBG for now and sell it off with the car or separately when ur selling the car. should be under 5.5k in the grey market. get one locally. these things dont get spoilt soon.

1. if you're looking for a quick and dirty solution, get one of those USB FM MP3 modulator thingies costs 200 or so

2.You can get Chinese USB/SD card reading MP3 HU's for very cheap (1~1.5k)

3. the pioneer HU is probably the cheapest you can get, and indian grey prices are almost the same as sg prices methinks. you can get a DEH 2150 for 5.2K or so.

Bigger budget? then there's more :)

if he gives the installer his old unit .. should work out much cheaper and sometimes free (if u know them personally).. u can always find a double din pioneer fh-p5000mp (used ones sell @ 5-6k) this is what my gf had in her rolla. probably one of the best pioneer head units made in the recent times.. fabulous output.. and alot of settings.. lol ull get lost if u dont know what ur doing :)

Now if i get this BKTOYK960 - BKTOYK960 Radio Kit for select 2003-Up Toyota Corolla - Accessories - Discount Car Stereo.com - Detail.Can i get it in India?, else i have to source it from ebay.com there is exactly the same model and few other's.Can any one confirm whether the above one fits the 1st gen Corolla??

Can i get the normal HU .Can any one here access T-BHP market section and get a decent HU for me ??.Greenie i guess you have access but do u have the time to deal there ??.The reason i am looking for used HU is that i will be using it only for 3 months max ( Dec2010 to Feb 2011) after which i will be back to NZ .I can get the same unit here use it in my FTO .While disposing off the corolla i am going to sell it off with the original HU.Getting a new one will not make sense as the new car after i get back to India for good is going a real BIG .

Any suggestions please.Can i get decent used rear speakers as well ??.I don't know what is the size of rear speakers in 1st gen corolla .I can afford upto 10K( 300NZD one month of my saving here) for the HU and the rear speakers,can stretch a bit if the deal is good.

I tried looking for HU's in NZ,its a total ripoff for stuff here :@
 
scosche sells similar stuff in india, but since the demand is low, prices and availablity may be an issue. Its available for 14 USD on amazon, but the prices in india may be closer to what LBM has quoted
 
Pioneer double dins are pathetic sounding. Go for a single din HU they are much better. For the installation you can get the dash kit for 2k do let me know if you are interested I can get it arranged. And that would a double din one not a single din so you will have spare slot for further expansion.
 
@low_bass_maker are you talking about the same dash kit which i posted in my previous post and why is it 2K man when i can get the same for 17USD :S
