so i am just sold off my i pod touch cause i did not like its SQ and most probably will be ordering nationite S:FLO2.(by all means suggest an alternative... my only conern SQ ....everyting is secandory)
i have image s4 and akg k702( which i currently use with my old onkyo av reciever )

so for portable use (s4 ) i think i do not need any amplifier as the nationite has pritty good opamp in it ......correct me if i am wrong though.
AKG .....thats where i need help. i need a good amplifier(and DAC) for the akg.i was thinking about D4 mamba but as its portable wnt i be sacrificing on SQ. i also short listed meverick but Head-fi people do not think much of it.
I have a budget of 10- 15K . full size or portable .

Well the ibasso D4 is out since it uses the same Dac as the sflo2(Dual wolfsons).
I do own the sflo2 and i think it doesn't need an amp for portable use with the Klipsch s4.
I'm using the sflo2 with the TF10's(well tf10's don't need an amp in the 1st place but u got my point, rite?)

You should be looking at full sized amps.
 
Not very sure if a 200-250$ portable amp would be able to drive a AKG 702 to its best.From what Ive read the AKGs sound best with a good desktop amp. I tried one with a Maverick D1 desktop amp and it sounded amazing .It did need a good amount of power from Maverick to enjoy the music .Volume was at ~12 'O clock position . Infact the 702 + maverick is the best Ive personally auditioned till date. ;) I myself wanted to get one but didn't have the budget to afford an amp so finally settled for the Denons .

If you really want portable only have a look at the Arrow 12HE or ALO Rx. Desktop DAC/Amps ,Maverick is pretty decent . Audio GD Fun basic model is also really good . Best of Luck . These links + more of head-fi should help you out.

I'm using a k271s with Ibasso d10,the dac part of it is pretty good but you will definitely need a full sized amp to properly drive it. portable amps, at least the d10 is just not enough.

Matrix M-stage from what i read will be a pretty good match for the akgs.My problem is the seller on ebay is not willing to ship it to India.I'm looking at other alternatives to get it..
 
Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1? If it can drive those DT880/HD650 without issues, I am sure the AKG K702 shouldn't be a problem.

availability in india is also a key factor... ordering via kmd is a pain nowadays

@faheem well i have not ruled out the meverick d1 ....if i dont find anything better i'll be getting it .
 
lol gota spend if u want to enjoy the 702's they r very choosy for power, tubes r the only option. solid state will not do them justice :)

Little Dot MKIII is another option.

You don't need to rely on KMD for most audio products. These are usually made by small enterprising, one man operations that ship worldwide by EMS etc.
 
little dot MKIII's availability is an issue. with customs it wil go well beyond 20K .....20K for a 200$ product seems harsh

it looks like a solid amp though with good reviews .

please give priority to products available in india .
 
Hmmm not sure but they might work well with some of the NuForce high-end amps as well like the Icon HDP .Have no idea what it sounds like and weather its better than D1 so see if you can get to audition it with your 702.I think Bass & Treble in Delhi and AudioVision India in Mumbai have it for auditioning . Contact Buygaming stuff and see if which places have them :). Also if you are from Mumbai you can contact Pristine Note to buy the Maverick . He already has a 702 + Maverick D1 setup at his place which you can audition .
 
i am in chattisgarh right now .....so no audition...just opinion

yeah i will contact pristine note for maverick d1, apparently he is their indian dealer!!
 
Hi! I missed this thread. I use the following to drive my AKG 702 and this my Reference Setup:

Foobar 2000>>Asus Xonar STX (Line Out) >> Maverick Audio A1 (Tube Out Raytheon 6AK5 tube) connected via Van Del Hul D102 Mk III>> AKG K702

I suggest you increase your budget, and BUY THE BEST DAC POSSIBLE !! :devil2:
K702 Really shines with better equipment !

your budget should be three times.
