I was talking about when listening to music rather than general isolation. ANC significantly helps reduce the volume of music you need. Also, once I set a volume with ANC on, when walking about, I enable transparency without raising the volume as I know it is at the right level, as against trying to cancel some noise with more noise.

I had this and also it's predecesor. For some reason, Sony never got multipoint connectivity right and it used to be a proper mess when using it with both a phone and a tablet. Also the latency was horrible, the microphone not so great and the FM reception was finicky based on the earphones used. It served its purpose for a time but it is not something I would go back to ever.
