My friend wants to buy a new headphone and obviously the best place to get advice is TE.
So here it goes:
  • Something comfortable. Not very heavy or extremely large. In-ears are out as well.
  • The main purpose is listening to music (metal is his fav genre).
  • And something which will be available in retail stores in India. Are their any competitive offerings in this range from brands like Sony, Creative and Phillips?

Highly recommend the Sennheiser PX 80. Its sound signature is similar to the awesome PX 100s, but 1K cheaper. You should find them on ebay for around 1.5K.

@Techno:You collect headphones or something? What are you doing with 3 of them?

And everyone thanks for the suggestions.

Well mine is but a naive collection, you should see what faheem and some others have got here :P

The PX 100 was on sale on ebay yesterday - for Rs. 1460 (insane pricing) !! There were 6 available. All sold out. My friend managed to snatch one.

SHP 8500 is a nice of for that budget. Have heard good things about it, and My SHP 8900 sounds really sweet for its price (not close to AD700 though) :)

sorry to hijack this thread, but had one query to ask about a certain pair of headphones - Sony MDR-XD200.

Anyone uses these? How good are these? Read some reviews that say these are good for the price its being sold at currently (about 1.4K).
