I may end up buying either from ebay.in or get it made from some local carpenter or fabricator (as 1k for a simple steel stand looks quite expensive).

yes! the thought of PN only had come to my mind when first got the idea of having an HP stand, as remember having seen this on sale on some forum couple of years back.
let me see who gives a better offer - PN or soundfoundations. :D
