i heard you get the labtec 840 elites for arnd 800-900 bucks in lam road...
heard em once.. pretty cool stuff.. has awesome quality...
 
Philips HP 800 if you want em for gaming or HP 840 for music. 840s sound better but have a susceptible build quality.

I can say that Altec LAnsing MX 5021 is a 2.1 speaker set which costs around 9K. I am just clarifying it coz' you you have talked abt that in a heasphines thread...

And I think the Philips HP 890 is a really good pair. I was almost certain of buying it until I got my SOny MDR V700 DJ.

If you can spend around 3-3.5K, get a sennheiser HD497. THE best budget pair of cans period!
