Looking forward to apply heat shrinking tubes, but i don't have any good heat source, all i have is a hair dryer :), can it do the trick? has any one here tried this?

Thanks.

Nope! A hair dryer doesn't produce enough heat to shrink one. A heat-gun does the trick but is expensive. The cheapest way is to use a lighter and hold it at a safe distance so one doesn't melt it. :)

CAUTION!!!!
Please dont use air-blowing plastic nozzle products pointed at computer components.
Specially a hair-dryer. Because it throws large amount of static charge on the precious components.

(A friend lost his crucial ballistix Rams, western digital HDDs, just because his servant used a dust blower (vaccum cleaner in reverse) inside his open cabinet)

I have successfully used hair dryer for all my heat shrinking applications... They do work.... Use the max setting & you are good to go...

I tried a lot with a hairdryer but it didnt work...then used a lighter, but was getting really difficult doing this with one hand...so used a candle and that worked very well.

^ safe as long as all wires are intact. USe a Ironbox @ medium settings for uniform contraction.(Dont keep on the tubes for long just a touch will do)

Candle/lighter too does fine.
