@thebanik: Thanks, got the vote!
@Naga: Got it! Thanks!
@tirthankar: Thanks!
@BF1983: It *might* be the 17-50. I might chuck it for a 30 f1.4 + 10-24. Expensive but more creative. Lets see, this is still my favorite lens of the lot. :)

Cheers!

The Great Driving Challenge | Featured Couples

Alright. This is scary.

The site now displays ALL couples by voting done so far as well. Which means people can see where they're ranked and how far up the ladder they are. Which is not necessarily a good thing cuz it leads to foul play - usually. :D

Ah well, anyway. D.Payne a.k.a Joseph is #1. So great going TE!

The testimonials so far have been very well written, thank you SO much! :clap:

Cheers and Keep it going!

Great GOing

:hap2::hap2::hap2:

@pappu: "Maybe" huh? :D

@everyone else: C'mon guys! We're more than 38,000 members here; if I consider that around 20% are active then its 7600 right there! Out of those, even if 20% vote that's 1500 votes atleast! :D

Of course, that also means I have to do something to ensure involvement in this thread. Will think of something! ;)

I don't mean to spoil the thread here, but since a few posts started popping up here and there, I would like to mention that proxy votes or votes with aliases are generally against the rules of online voting. I do agree that such means are used by almost everyone these days, but a clean victory is what one should look forward to. So, I would request you all to kindly stop talking about proxy votes and keep the discussion clean.

Besides, just as an informal note, what happens if someone stumbles upon this thread and reports that proxy votes are being cast? I have not read the rules of the contest, but I am sure there must be some aspect regarding this covered in the contest details.

Anyway D.Payne, all the best ;)

@XT: Thanks. :) I've been trying to discourage proxy votes 'cuz even without them its possible to post really high scores with genuine support. Its just the *ease* with which its possible that makes it so tempting. I understand and appreciate your concern!

So far the votes have come from TE, my b-school networks, workplaces and T-bhp. I'm yet to tap into old engineering, city and school networks. :) But for that I want to finish building the entire story first. Working on that today and tomorrow and should be up by Friday.

Thanks guys! Keep it rocking!

UPDATE 03.07.09

Well, now that TE was out of action for the past few days. The gap between us and the rest of the teams has decreased SUBSTANTIALLY!

We are still #1. But only by some 70 votes now.

Please continue to vote for us to get us back on the leading strip by a proper margin! :)

Cheers!

Of course, in true Payne style, here's a photo for this thread:

Paradise Lost
3689182899_1e0616fb60_b.jpg

Shot on the road to Anantnag from Srinagar in the Valley of Kashmir.

To me, this single picture captures almost everything that I experienced in my week long stay at my aunt's place in Kashmir in the summer of 2007. The war, the strife, the beauty, the peace, the color, the many layers of scenery that Kashmir provides and finally the way how easily the vibrance of life co-exists with almost unnerving possibility of death in this valley. And how it is an everyday affair for the man many Kashmiris out there.

Cheers!

PS: C'mon you guys, TE can do way better! :)
