Guide
my cousin sister who stays in New York wants 2 floorstanders, a amp & a dvd player

her budget is $800 max

she needs it for music & movies

online ordering is prefered or a shop name in New York

Size of room? Type of music/movies prefered?

Edit: On second thoughts, I think girls won't bother too much, and worse, won't appreciate a well balanced system :P Let me search for something nice.

Sorry yaar, I thought I could have some fun at least in your thread thinking you wont mind..... I dont spam in all threads :P

It will be better if she goes for a HTIB....

You can get a 32" LCD / Plasma for much less.. so I guess you can spend a bit extra on the Home theatre setup if the total budget is $2300. Here's my recommendation

1) Look at OrbAudio.com (particularly HT Express Pro Complete 5.1 / 6.1 / 7.1 Home Theater System) for a choice of a complete HT system, you could just go for the speakers and not the receiver to bring down the price. These should appeal aesthetically too to your cousin. Come in silver, black and copper colors, are so much better than the Bo$e speakers but are only sold online (you are in luck though because they have a demo available in the NY area, definately hear them before making any choice, you'll be floored)

2) If you're looking for receivers separately go for the Panasonic XR 57 or XR 55 (Surround Sound receivers from Panasonic)

A light weight (because it's a digital amplifier) workhorse, I have the XR 57 and it's simply awesome.

3) If you don't want to go for Orbs, check out the Athena Micra 6 (Athena Technologiesâ„¢ — Product Lines — Micra 6 System) If you can get a hold at them, these are the best in class (less known) 5.1 speakers available on a budget (300-400$).

4) For televison try the Sony KDL32S3000 32", although I'd say 32" will be a lot smaller, have a look at the Vizio 42" VU42LF available at Costco for about $1199 with a 200$ off coupon sent recently in their mailer.

Overall the setup that I would recommend would come out to be about

$2400 ($1000 for the orb speakers 3 mod 2, 2 mod1 and subwoofer, $1000 for the TV and about $400 for the panny receiver)

PS : Please don't go for Blo$e ( pronounced Blows :) ) ... see intellexual net · m k i v
