Help: Buying a new pc with best configuration in my budget

Hello friends,

i am looking for best possible configuration under my budget.

i am from lucknow.and cost of components here are 5-10 %+ of the price in Delhi(because of VAT)

i dont want to spend much on Cabinet .

is there any need of good SMPS?

Yup looks good :) Though opt for 4GB RAM.

Only possible change is MSI H67MA-E35 ~ 5.2k-5.5k instead of the Intel. But it has only 2 RAM slots so you need go 4GB straight away.

I am getting 2*2gb for dual channel configuration.(the board has 4 slots)(2 left for future upgrade).

should i get 4gb?

and should i get a good SMPS? (like coolermaster etc) or a simple SMPS will work good?

He wants to run the RAM in dual channel mode, so either that MSI board or 8GB RAM is not necessary for him since he is not gonna do gaming..

If you want to run the RAM in dual channel mode then 2*2GB is perfect..

BTW you have mentioned that you might be adding quadro GPU.. So a good PSU is definitely a necessity..

I would suggest VX series of PSU from Corsair.. :)

if i increase my budget to 7000 rupees ,then what are the possible ATI and Nvidia graphic gards which will perform best on below configuration.

Why do you want 2500K and P67 when you dont want to Overclock it? Pure waste of money IMHO.
Even though the Corsair CX400 ~ 2.4k might sound inferior to CX430 or CX500 it infact has better interiors and has longer warranty (3 yrs vs 2 yrs of CX430 or CX500)
From Nvidia go for the MSI GTS450 1GB GDDR5 ~ 6.7k. Anything less that from Nvidia doesnt cut it IMO.

absolutely correct that i will not overclock right now and it seems that i am wasting money(its my fault that i didn't mentioned that i will like to over clock after 6 months).

But after 6 months when i will start using CAD softwares (Like CATIA,autocad ,PRO-E etc) and few good games,then i will definitely like to overclock.

so i am going for P67 chipset and Core i5-2500k considering some future possibilities as i will not upgrade this system in future.

Why i made this choice?

i made this choice because:-

1.

i got HP dv6-3050tx laptop.it is a core i7-720qm with ATi mobility radeon 5650.

when i run AutoCAD 2010 on it , it shows some lag in sketching while the CPU accelerates from 1.6ghz to 2.66ghz.and the mouse feels to stuck;say for a moment.

i am not sure if it is because of Graphic card or processor.according to me when i disabled all the effects like smooth display etc in AutoCAD which are graphic card driven,even then it shows lag.when keeping an eye on turbo boost monitor the lag removes as soon as the processor reaches 2.66Ghz.may be it is because of low base frequency of processor.

correct me if i am wrong.



2.i will never upgrade this rig.i will buy a new one if i ever feel like i need something more(rare possibility except the graphic card for CAD works ).

3. adding around rs 6850(1950 on processor + 5000 on motherboard) is giving me a high end configuration (IMO for me).i can go for dell LED instead of IPS and cover this up or else i will spend 7000 more and will get all of it.

i am always open to suggestions.correct me where ever i am wrong.and suggest best for me.

There is no comparision between the older i7 720 QM and the Sandy Bridge.

Intel's new quad core Sandy Bridge CPU line up brings a huge performance gain compared to the existing Clarksfield CPUs. Comparing the i7-2720QM CPU to the i7-740QM we observe an outstanding plus of 56.5% on average.

Review Intel Sandy Bridge Quad-Core processors - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

Check the above review. The 2720QM is clocked @2.2Ghz and 740QM @ 1.86GHz. The performance difference is ~50-55%!! (The difference in clock speed is only ~20%)

Also one more thing that you should keep in mind is your 720QM @ turbo speeds only one or max. two core will go upto max turbo and not all cores.

The i5 2500 (3.3GHz, 4 Cores) and Turbo upto 3.7GHz is a speed demon and would outperform your laptop processor by 2.5-3 times when all cores are loaded :P

The newer IvyBridge processor that will be released next year should be compatible with the H67 LGA1155 and you can pop one in in place of i5 2500 if you need it!

Its supposed to be backwards compatible with LGA1155 socket (H67,P67 and upcoming Z68 chipset based mobos)

P67=enthusiast chipset (CPU overclocking possiblities)

H67=value chipset (GPU overclocking capability) (for Value users)

Z68= CPU + GPU overclock capability.(so it is better than both)

Yeah what you understood about the chipsets is correct but with a small correction. GPU can be overclocked in all 3 chipsets. CPU cant be OCed in H67.

The important difference between H67 and Z68 is P67 can't power your monitor since it lacks display ports like VGA/DVI/HDMI despite the processor having integrated graphics in them! So with a P67 a user has to get a Nvidia or AMD/ATI GPU.

But Z68 combines the goodness of H67 and P67 ie., it can power your display and also allows you to OC your processor. So you dont require a separate GPU if you dont want to game or do high end productivity stuff :)

Ivybridge is a future gen. processor and LGA1155 is current gen. socket. When a Ivy Bridge release LGA1155 would become previous gen. So what else would one call it other than backward compatibility :S

is reverse of it is also true.?
if i am getting a Graphic card(nvidia/ati) and my budget allows me , i should get a P67 chipset motherboard?

i know i am burning cool penguin's head(Think it that way >you are information server and i am dumb client and so i will keep sending you request until all my processes are complete :P .so plz bear with me :) .
