Help: Can NTFS & Fat32 Co-exist ?

Hey !!

Was about to install Vista Beta on my pc which already has WinMe and WinXpSp2..
My hard drive has around 5 partitions .. all Fat32.
Vista says.. NTFS to go.. or no Show !!

So my question..

Can I format one of the partitions to NTFS and install Vista ?
Will WinMe and XP run fine after that ?

TIA.

well...i suppose u could only format the drive in which u are gonna install the Vista...but u wont be able to access it from winME....

btw...why winME?

WinMe used to be good for certain games i played..
plus sister prefers d old interface.. nd has a few programs which run on it..
98 crashes a lot.. WinMe makes a lil more sense...

@ super_saiyan btw.. thanks for the super quick reply !!

And ya..
Its ok if i cant access the NTFS Vista partition frm WinMe.
But I will be able to access it from WinXp rite ??

And no issues with data bein moved around from NTFS to Fat32 and vice versa rite ??

Google the freeware "READNTFS" and see if it lets you access NTFS partitions from WinME - I have an external USB HDD with Win98SE on it and using readntfs I can access my NTFS file system HDDs.

and if interface is the main issue, you can use XP with all the eye-candy turned off. :D It look just like Me then.
you can do this by selecting the Windows Classic Style theme ...

Basically i just wanna know dat there wont be any issues with d data between NTFS and Fat...
No corruption issues while xfering data among them rite ??

I "tried" out READNTFS - did not run it for long - and it copied files fine but it was quite slow in transfering files between the HDDS.

@theMask.. chking ur links now..

Btw.. i've already installed Vista ystday after formatting E:\ to NTFS..

seems fine..though..didnt get much time to chk it out..

Will do dat today !!

Thanks for ur help guys !! :)

i think there is data corruption when u transfer frm fat32 to ntfs had tried that on my comp couldnt install any programmes after transfering not sure though

hey raj....i've 2 hdds with 2 partitions each...one in NTFS n the other in FAT32....both are runnning on XP for almost an year now without any problem.....the only disadvantage is slow data transfer....thats all
