Ohh yeah, I forgot to mention cryostasis. I am sure there a few other games out there that dont play well on a 4870..... lol...
I got the free downloadable copy courtesy nvidia/evga and installed it. Uninstalled it almost instantly. :|

GTX 460 768MB was selling for Rs.11,900 in e r o d o v. Seller was yantra Online. This price was when the GTX460 was launched and when the 1Gb version was 13.9k. But now the 1GB version costs 13k from mediahome :D So my guess is the 768MB should be available for ~11-11.5k.

You will get as ~20-25% performance boost by going for the GTX460 768MB over the HD5770.

Yeah, its a really bad coded game for ATI owners. But people from the green side say that it has an awesome atmosphere and is a very cool game. Even I could not get past the first part of the first level. I was getting like 20-24 fps and no matter what I did, the FPS would not budge. Settings, any lower than what I tried are not worth playing, IMO, for a game that was developed only for nvidia...

Was it the PhysX, or something else which causes it to render bad on red cards..?

but don't forget that the current versions of GTX460 available,

heat up like hell

a user named tkin bought the card(palit sonic platinum)

had 95c temps

exchanged it for HD5850 the same day(after paying 2k more)

the 5850(xfx reference) ran much cooler(50-75c)

wait for the MSI GTX460 Hawk(twin frozr II)

it will be much cooler

its due to release this august or september

p.s.

but as it turns out

he has RMAed the 5850 today too(grey screen errors)

Can you please give a source of the information. AFAIK, there is only this one instance of a 460 running hot. They actually run cooler and more efficiently than ati 5xxx.....

it is a misconception

ati 5xxx series are more energy efficient and run cooler than their Nvidia 4xx counterparts

don't read too much reviews mate

most of the time than not they are not true

and don't give complete and unbiased verdict

if you want to know more about the guy who had probs with gtx460

ask this guy(TKIN)

See, I am not denying the fact that this one guy had a broken 5850 and a broken 460. What I am saying is that GTX 460 (and not the other 400 series) runs cooler than 5850 and is more energy efficient.

What about this:
Power Consumption And Temperature : Nvidia GeForce GTX 460: The Fermi We Were Waiting For

Clearly mentions that 460 has almost equal power consuption as a 5850 and significantly lower temperatures (even lower than 5770). And, this is not hte only review. Read wherever you want (hardwarecanucks, anand etc.).

I love ati too, but, please lets not act like fanboys and give every team their due credit. 460 is the fermi we were all waiting for. Its a very good card and is priced accordingly.

And, you know what, without reviews, this very forum would not exist.. People will not know what to buy and why. Not all the reviews are correct and agreed, we should not follow them blindly and should our own research. But, there are some reliable websites out there. You only need to know where to look..

If you ask me, between 5770, 5850 and GTX 460, the nvidia is the winner. I have admitted it and its better you admit it too and move on..

Yeah right, and take the stray case as a universal truth?? You have to be kidding!!

guys.....
i will sooner be getting hawk 5770 but now there is more war on 460 n it seems its more power efficient and runs cooler.....

so what to do??? as per reviews i did found 5770 more cool and efficient but should i change my mind and opt for 460 in near days?:@.....then need to stretch on budget...

and as per the reviews http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/19404

5770 SCORES NOWHERE.

i'm finally considering GTX 460 768MB so had to sell my vx450. :( for extra cash.

now i have my good old PSU CM EPP 600W and i know it can handle this card easily. :)

This psu has 4pin cpu power connector & my mobo has 8pin. (4+4)

Now my concern is regarding my mobo...will the 4pin work in place of 8pin? i googled and found the extra 4pins are for grounding only.

Still i'm in worry...plz clarify the important doubts.

^It will work but a really bad move selling the VX and opting for the CM EPP 600W. Had I been in your place, I would have gone for the HD 5770 instead.

ya i know its a bad move but had no other choice left as reviews of 5770 showed its lower in comparison to 460.

Now as for the CPUs 4pin & 8pin war, can i OC my procyy like before by just plugging in just the 4pin cpu connector?
