Help choose Laptop from US ,with good battery life

ok this would be for software coding,not high on graphics expect occasional movie. but lotta development tools gonna be installed. so help me out here in choosing a particular model guys. Budget around ~1000$ .ok heres the priority:

priority 1:battery life : amd turion / celeron based which for beter battery life ? shud i go for 64 bit ?

priority 2:multitasking without hanging anything particular to get,watch out for here ?

also is there anything i have to look for to get lappies from the US .like some compatability etc ?

im currently tempted at the dell inspiron (1050$)with upto 8 hours battery life, and ACER Aspire 5002WLMi - Turion 64bit & Dell Inspiron 6000 both at at 999$ .
 
I don't know much more about Laptop. But One of my friend who choose each and every product after lot of hrs of studying review, advantage,disadvantage etc. prefer DELL Brand for laptop.

My Hardware vendor ask me to Buy DELL Laptop blindly if I want one.

NOTE : Make sure it's Original, no problem if you buy it from US.
