I am not much of a technical person but wanted to buy an assembled PC mainly for the purpose of watching movies, surfing and downloading and occasional gaming. ( no high graphics games). I would love to have a large monitor of 18.5 or 19 " and a decent processing speed.
Can you give me the specs for the same ? I have a budget of 30K which can be at most stretched to 35K

For entertainment PC, wouldn't it be better to skimp a little on the graphic card (9500GT) and put that money towards buying a 1TB or large hdd, which would be useful for storing digital content? Also while VX450 is good, wouldn't it be a overkill for this rig and CM460 be better suited?

Intel E7400@6k
Gigabyte EG31M-S2@2.5k
Transcend 2x2GB DDR2 800MHz@2.2k
Seagate 500GB(or WD)@3k
Palit 9600GT 512MB GDDR3@5.2k
Samsung 2233@10K
DVD R/W@1.1k
Keyboard+Mouse@0.7K
Zebronics Bijili(w/o SMPS)@1.1K
CM 460W@2.4K
Altec Lansing BXR1121@1.2K
So ~35K and u have a pretty powerful and balanced system...
If u want still cheaper one get a E5200 and a HD4670.... Will save u another 3K... Dont compromise on GPU as u need a good GPU for ur 22" for HD videos and will be pretty future proof too....:ohyeah:

Don't skimp on the speakers and display (audio & visual), I'd recommend the Altec Lansing VS4121 for 2.8k at that price range and the Samsung 2233SW (for sheer style also).

Apart from this, get a 1TB HDD as already mentioned - I ran out of space on my 500GB HDD very soon. The problem is not movies but TV shows with multiple seasons which simply eat up space. I don't trust DVDs too much. :)

You can choose a mix of Siddhu's and Karthi's configs. Basically:

Intel E7400@5.8k

Gigabyte EG31M-S2@2.5k

Transcend 2x2GB DDR2 800MHz@2.2k

Seagate 1TB(or WD)@5.5k

ATi HD4670@4.6k

Samsung 2233@10K

DVD R/W@1.1k

Keyboard+Mouse@0.7K

Zebronics Bijili(w/o SMPS)@1.1K

CM 460W@2.4K

Altec Lansing VS4121@2.8K

Going down to an E5200 will cut off 2.2k off this. Just keep in mind the display (22"), the audio-system (quality 2.1) and the storage capacity (1TB).

All the best!

:) The bloke has already got a pair of speakers...

So I think he saves some 2.5k on the speakers..

which will be used on buying an ups which I think everybody has forgot to mention..

Also any other choices of mobos...

Will the integrated graphics be not sufficient?

Again what about an intel board (he is not going to oc in his dreams) or from msi or asus..
