Help for optimizing my WM6 PDA !!

I do not think we have too many WM based PDA users on-board but still word of help from the existing one.

Good News - Very soon, ill be getting a WM6 based HTC P300 Navigator.

Bad News - I'll be requiring bit help consisting

- Optimizing the PDA
- Various necessary applications required to be installed
- Information regarding best "HTC Touch's" TouchFLO mod
- Over clocking - is it worth ?
- Do installing higher capacity memory cards increases the overall speed of the PDA ?

and last but not the least being mine very first windows mobile, How to do it ?? :S :S

There are loads of softwares available out there some are free and for some u have to pay, but u always get *ahem* version of the paid one....

All u have to do is to go to site Called Google, Here's the link Google
and search for what u want like i.e. HTC TouchFLO mod, overclocking Pocket PC, bang u will get it in first shot....... Man why don't u guys do a search before posting such things. No offence out there........

And yeah xda-developers - Xda-developers is the one stop forum where u'll get nearly everything related to PPC ................

Hey andrew, how did you knew that i used the same link, got millions of results and was finally totally confused on how/which one to do. Are you a google hacker and read their log files !!! :tongue: Just joking, kindly do not take personally.

I searched along, and found most of the link pointing to xda dev. forums. But after reading so many long posts, finally i got confused. So I was seeking for a helping hand over our loving TE.

Do share your views and expertise, hand-in-hand makes friends :)

Nice Thread Bro (ashdivx). Even I have been doing my search here and there bt ended up being quite confused.. I think this thread will help us and many other PPC users wishing to Upgrade their phones..

@ Andrew : If google is all members have to do all the time then why Join this Forum???What do you think this forum is for Chatting?? Next time be kind enough to provide the search result that you get Bang in a first shot. No offence.

No offence here dude but i think u are too lazy to go through many of those site which u got from google or u might be finding the procedure of upgrading the firmware a lil' difficult. And also the fact that u might brick u r PPC can be lil' hard to swallow. :@
And yeah forum is not for chit chats its for helping others & getting help from others. And if u have read few posts above i & another user have given a link for XDA forum. If u have visited XDA forum & read topics on how to upgrade a certain PPC firmware u would have not posted this.....
And bout google, search for touchflo on WM6 u will get hits for software called touch commander and thats a great result in first shot.

And i repeat pls go to XDA and u will get what u are looking for and i think that answers the Thread starter Query..........
 
@Andrew mate - Hope i have not touched any bad nerve of yours, but still i feel internet is something open to all. Sharing knowledge is something sharing perspectives/opinions, so as other's can benefit from it. So i just asked to share concrete knowledge rather then picking up uncertain things wide spread waste all over the internet.

I do visited XDA, and found different testers doing various experiments. Like for ex. i found around 2-3 touch flow stuff with naming touchFLO Rom, some flash software for touchFLO effect and touch commander. Now being a newbie and as i do not want to be indulged in experimenting thing, i asked the techies and people over here to share there know-how only. We do ask for opinions for purchasing mobiles, mobos, TFTs & lots of other stuff over here, does this mean the internet or market is not open for an individual. Dear, forums are to discuss and share knowledge only.

Had a chance to speak to a techie in this particular field + my findings =

- TouchFLO rom is the best thing to bet upon, do need to take care of the Window's mobile version we have.

- Do not over load your PDA with lots of Apps, install only which are required.

- Battery Status - safe bet to over clock your PDA, easy to operate (included in Touch FLO Full version) youtube.com demonstration of "battery status" usage

Will keep posted with more findings...
 
i use Elves 5... its rock stable.. using it since 03/02/2008 and its the longest time for a particular ROM :P i have a record of changing 3 new ROMS in a week :P

i also flashed shadow 2.1 but i didnt like it much :) i installed WTASK on elves. the main thing i wanted was task manager which is always absent in shadow rom.

Been on WM platform since more than 2 years now..

Essential Apps:
a:>Battery Status Pro (Overclocking utility - an absolute must on those OMAP procies)
b:>Eye on Privacy
c:>PIM Backup/Restore

You can find information on various touch mods in the Developers section of xda-developers forum.
And yes, overclocking is fully worth (actually a must-do)

Not too sure what you mean by the last question.I dont think Memory Cards affect the performance (neither positively nor negatively)

Thankx pat for the loads of experienced info.

Yes i have overclocked, its running 247 Mhz smoothly without any flaw. Another app. which i found good is HTC Home plugin, though it takes a bit memory space but its definetly worth it.

Mapking on P3300 is charm, even today i figured out shortcut to cut out the traffic :bleh: all thanks to Mapking

Finally,

Have a smooth flowing WM6 device (power loaded) running @ 247Mhz safely

Apps Installed

-Battery Status

-Mapking R12

-Zipy Mobile justice

-DAD Smart Dial

-SRS WOW HD Effect

-PHM registry Editir

-Memmaid

Everything is breeze to use and install as well. However, looking out for all india maps or any encoder/decoder which can convert Oneindia maps to Mapking maps :)

U got a Touch ?

Remove SRS WOW HD Effect... its a No go. . trust me !

Makes no effect watsoever.. and screws up ur default sound settings bad !

Use oxios Hibernate rather than Memmaid !

I've got P3300. However, it works in my case... But yes the default settings are definetly screwed. Hope default settings gets restored once the program is removed. :)

Will try Oxios Hibernate :)
