I have a new HD4670 card, which was working perfectly while playing HL2, episode 2. But one day, I noticed the game had reverted to software acceleration. The other games too were showing similar artifacts on screen which show up when using software acceleration. The hardware selection tab in HL2 is grayed out, so no more selectable. Also the system started showing 'Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown' message a lot.
So I formatted and reinstalled everything. For a while, the game worked perfectly, and system booted properly. But while playing HL2 yesterday, suddenly the screen changed in brightness a bit, and I could see that it had reverted back to software acceleration. I tried to restore it back to the day when it was showing proper 3d, but still same problem. What could be wrong? I am using latest drivers of everything, including SP1 of windows 7.
